Um... I personally wouldn't use T-cut on acrylics...

There's a chance it can yellow the material...

Use Novus Polish instead. Which I managed to smuggle to munich after the airport decided I couldn't take shower gel, Toothpaste and deodorant through...

Silly buggers...

I would link to a place, But I'm too lazy to search google for you.

Thanks again for selecting the spherical yellow UV acrylics for Christina and myself at Bristol btw biggrin turned out the clear ones I had at home were disappointingly 1.5mm smaller though, doh! still love the yellow tho sunny

Which of the three grades would you recommend (course to fine?)

I figured it depends on the area of damage, start with course and move down to a fine shine on bad cuts/chips?

the tester set of all 3 for a fiver looks great to me.

you could use only fine, so the rest is more protected, but it would take a looong time to sort out any damage.

waiting on wise words from Ed however smile

Right:

1 = pretty much just a polish, to make them shine and clean again.

2 = good all rounder. Will get out small to moderate scratches.

3 = not tried yet....

Obviously, Chips in the ball, it's screwed.

Yes. Isolations look crap with a preserved french fry inside the ball...

How did the subject of keeping the ball polished and scracth free come up anyway...? umm

i've used novus for years, but never on an acrylic ball.

that stuff repairs old cd's like you wouldn't believe though biggrin

do 3 then 2 then 1 and you'll end up with a ball so shiny that you can barely hold it any more wink

i reckon most bad chips from drops are more likely to happen just after you've polished the ball - a subtle combination of murphy's law and a surface as slippery as a greased up bodybuilder's bicep.

Ah ha! Thanks very much for that LTC. I tried pretty hard to find a UK stockist but never came across that site. I got Crystal Glo in the end which so far has been working nicely - though is that going to yellow the ball like T-cut?

I had 3 bottles of a stuff sold for repairing the acrylic layer in CD's, they look identical to the pics of the little novus bottles, but are labled 'clean, repair, protect', and all seem to produce a slightly yellow liquid that's got me a bit worried about staining now as I used it to try clean my crystals up a bit the other night...
