Posted:Ok, this was on this morning's exam.

IF (by some astronomically small chance) YOU HAPPEN TO BE A UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN M2, AND YOU HAVEN'T TAKEN THE MARCH 10 QUIZ YET, STOP READING NOW!

A 24-year old unemployed man lives with his parents. He stays out all weekend and returns home on Sunday evening. He feels restless and depressed. He is irritable with his parents and speaks of committing suicide. He eats ravenously on Monday evening. By Wednesday he is completely recovered. This patient's symptoms are most consistent with:
(I've narrowed it down to my two best choices)

A) Cocaine withdrawal
B) MDMA withdrawal

I picked MDMA. What do you folks think?

Quote:Mkay. Now, uh, as your counselor, I'm here to tell you about drugs and alcohol and why they're bad, mkay? Uhso, first of all, uh, smokin's bad. [writes "smoking" on the board] You shouldn't smoke. And uh, alcohol is bad. [writes "alcohol" on the board] You shouldn't drink alcohol. And uh, as for drugs, well, drugs are bad. You shouldn't do drugs. mkay, that about wraps up my introduction, now uh, are there any questions?

Wish I'd seen this topic when it would have been relevant to post a reply...

Posted:The more I think about it, the more I think he spent the weekend in the university library completing an assignment due on Monday and studying for an exam on Tuesday, lived on vending machine coffee and a bag of marshmallows. He slept at a friend's cos its closer to the library and he doesn't have a car. He's really sick of his parents nagging him about getting a job and calling him 'unemployed' cos they think his course is a waste of time and they're tired of supporting him too. His blood sugar gets so whack its natural he's irritable... and he's learned (since his attempt at age 15) that threatening suicide is an effective way of shutting the parents up. His mum felt guilty and cooked his favourite (roast lamb and veges) for dinner on Monday. Once he got the assignment behind him, the exam wasn't as bad as he though and he had some protein in him, of course he cheered up!

Nope. It was in a past life, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
