My recruitment in [Old link] isn't going so well, so I thought I'd better take this to the social chat!

Hmmm...How to explain grits!!!
They are made from hominy which is similiar to corn and coarse ground...then you boil them down and add pretty much anything that you want to them for taste...
Personally....I just like them with butter and salt...
Along with bacon, eggs and toast...ymmmmmm...

one more gap in my culinary knowledge base, filled!! I always wondered what grits were, but never bothered to find out...
while we`re doing southern cuisine 101, what they heck are biscuits? cos when I think biscuits, I picture jaffa cakes and monte carlos, but they don`t go with roast beef and gravy, so I imagine it`s not the same thing...?
