I'm trying to get my clothing sorted out a little more by season, and whilst some things are obvious (hats and thick wool coats in the winter tongue) I can't really figure out which colours are more appropriate when. I know that brighter colours are better in the summer, and I've figured out how to look up whats "current" but does that mean I have to pack everything else together and just sort through it all each season??? Or is there kind of a general guide that pairs certain colours or intensities with certain seasons?

Help?

I mean, in theory I could use a good dose of "what not to wear" as well, but... just trying to work within constraints to tidy things up a bit at least...

well, yeah, that is pretty silly, but google wasn't helping me!! Anyway, there are some well dressed people on this board in the traditional sense as well as in the hippy sense, someone might yet be useful!

I buy clothes that I can wear to work, and then I buy clothes that make me laugh. I wear the same clothes in winter as I do in summer, just more of them. What's this crap about fashion? ubblol

meh, surely the "seasonal" colours change with the ebb and flow of fashion... i would say red was a good autumn colour for example, but cosmopolitan probably says purple or something shrug so you want actual seasons or fashion seasons??

I would have thought it would make more sense to sort your clothes according to the style of the thing and when you are more likely to wear it... like for work or something...

But i don't know why i'm contributing to this thread, my clothes fall only into two categories, 'things i wear' and 'things i don't wear'. Most of the latter category winds up in the charity shop.

Aurinko freedom agreement reached 10th Sept 2006

if it makes no sense that's because it's NOn-sense.

maybe skully has a point. I know there are general rules (like brighter colours in the summer and blues more in the winter) and i'm looking for those. i can look up whatever fashion magazines say in any given season if i want, and i can't possibly predict ahead of time what those strange rags will say tongue

And I can decide how much I care. But I need some sort of general way to get some rotation in, both because i have less closet/drawer space than before and I think it does more to keep my wardrobe managable.

Obviously I mostly just have to hang up coats and dresses and suits and such, but being able to seperate out shirts/tops/skirts/trousers a bit keeps everything neater and helps me out.

I've managed to pull out the obviously summery stuff (bikinis, shorts, bright butterfly stretchy tanks) and otherwise sort of gone with catagories "in fashion" and "not precisly in fashion but could be used or grabbed at any time" for the moment, but i still have around three boxes of clothing to unpack, and at some point its gonna want something more!

I think that if everyone wears dark in winter, then you should wear colour to make everyone smile.

But then again, my clothes line looks like a rainbow.

Wear what you'd usually wear. I'm sure the pommies will get over it wink

It's no wonder they're all so bloody miserable when they wear such dull colors all the time tongue

doesn't matter how warm the person cuddling is, i'd probably be freezing in an english summer if i hadn't any clothing! I can't regulate heat when i'm sat somewhere. If i'm moving about a lot i'm ok, like i can play sports in short shorts and a tank in somewhat ridiculous weather, but....
