hey all you unicycle types

today i whent on a little ride from exeter to topsham and back, all together it totalled about 11 miles and i'm motherfunkin knackered

damn good fun though, i plan to do the same ride a few more times and then double the distance and go straight through to exmouth and back

anyone else like to tell how far they're cycling on their uni's right now?

if you have a uni thats bigger than a 20 inch i suggest going for a nice relaxing ride, cycling paths are everywhere nowadays....good fun but remember to wear those cycling shorts lol

i have a 24 inch kriss holm uni

and on the way there it took me about an hour or something cus i kind of cycled off the cycle path

on the way back it took me just under half an hour to get 5 and a quarter miles, i think i could do it faster though lol

I have never been fortunate enough to have been able to play with a unicycle (would love to get one though), how much more tiring is it on a unicycle compared to a bike?

Terrain would need to be pretty flat wouldnt it because of the gearing and the lack of being able to freewheel must make it even more tiring.

Just curiousity i guess smile Cool achievement though

Most I've done was six miles for a St Judes bikathon. I have a bent up torker cx, and that childs seat got really, bloody uncomfortable after that...

Yeah, i found out that a 220 lb man shouldnt be doing 3' drops on a cheap torker :P

Hmmm bike paths are great and usally full of cyclists *sniggers* They're all still on their training wheels...
Anyways, I took up long distance rides a month ago, do 10km rides most days and the occasional 20-30km ride when I'm feeling inspired..
Max speed is 19km/h and average of 13.4km/h at the moment on a 29inch wheel.. feels like I'm flying in comparison to my 20 inch smile
Doing 42km this weekend in a race... got a free jersey so am planning to have a bit of fun trying to look like a real cyclist instead of the hippy on one wheel..

Sorry about the km talk... i think it's 2.2 or 2.5 to 1...

I think I managed 12 metres without pushing, pulling, shoving or slapping tobi ubblol

I saw a unicyclist peddling along happily in the lake district, I'd love to be able to do that one day.

About four miles on my Twenty was plenty enought for me but now with my 29er 2 miles seems like nothing so would love to do some big rides but riding company is what I miss most!

I'm doing a gig at a major cycle event in Cape Town in march - the main race is about 105 km's long with over 35000 entrants. I'm only part of the entertainment at the start, but I am thinking of ways to try and get a sponsor to get a 36er (nimbus with airfoil rim *drool*) and a actually ride the race next year.

My biggest surprise when researching the feasability of this, is that it was actually completed a few years ago by a unicylist!

Wow a bit has changed since i made that post...

Bought a cheap 24" (now with a friend so they can learn), got a much nicer nimbus 2 20" for christmas.

Havent done any distance riding yet, working more on freestyle stuff (aim to juggle on it, getting there slowly). Done some minor muni stuff on some 4wd drive tracks at some bush doofs which are great fun for practice.

After reading this im really keen to have a go at some distance orientated stuff this weekend. Anyone have any recommendations of starting distances? Gear i may not have thought of?

My friend rides 8km, once or twice a week on his cheap (no-name brand from taiwan) 20inch uni. So I guess you don't NEED any special equipment. It's more a question of comfort. I feel silly riding any distance on my 20inch, so I don't. I'm not the right person to give advice though, as a only ride basic street-trials and a bit of muni.
