Ok, so this is an idea ripped from contactjuggling.org - but could be fun to spice up some videos here and make people think outside the box...

With the joy of YouTube.com, anyone with access to a camera can pretty much put a vid online smile

So basically, the idea is a Theme or Challenge is given and then people have 2 weeks to get something along those lines online, it's quite interesting to see what different stuff comes up.

For example on CJ.org one word was "Travel" so your video could be spinning on a train, walking along somewhere, an entire routine based around the "Wheelchair" move (Dom's I believe) etc.

Or you could try and film an entire 2min single staff set WITHOUT letting go of the staff at all; no throws, no contact. Crazy I know...

Thoughts?

i just wanted to get something of earth, fire, wind and water in mine. no script!

i just finished it. i haven't made many videos before and well i'm not the best of camera men. its not very good but still an attempt. plus the last bit of poi spinning was taken this evening in gale like winds! oh look at me put myself down ubbloco hope you guys enjoy.

Yay - nice stuff smile

See, this is why the vid challenges are a good idea - you get completely different videos.

I have a Mk. 1 video on my camera which is a cop-oup "me spinning in a tree" video.
Today I'll hopefully get something better.

Hopefully biggrin

Keep 'em coming

cheers for comments people. yeah lazy angel that last shot was the best one out of about 5 attempts without people just standing in front of the camera. i tried telling a few people that i was filming but it was sooo windy i could hardly hear myself. i got soaked just after i stoped filming too. oh and i really enjoyed your video too by the way biggrin great idea!

hmm.. so after i saw the other earlier i was inspired by the sunshine to go out for a spin and would up making a video. It's pretty crap for all sorts of technical filmmaking and poi spinning reasons, it was more like a 3D design project biggrin

and i realise i kind of missed the deadline, but i had a couple of hours to misdirect somewhere, so i made it anyway.

here it be

funny enough making the poi was pretty quick once i'd found something to weight them with, plum tomatoes are surprisingly heavy considering their size. But alas the organic poi will not be travelling anywhere as i did in fact eat them on pizza for tea, and the grass handles aren't really reusable... the one in the video that has funny loops of grass coming off it - i kind of broke a few of the leaves when i was making it so quite surprised it survived the spinning... but it's very possible to make them again smile

I'm currently ripping lots of good footage from my camera.

Not much of it has a nature theme, but there'll be a little something out from me before Wednesday or my name's not Peter the Turtle Hunter

yes, i am superslack (see below for proof).

won't be at falmouth or bristol rolleyes

and probably won't have a chance to edit this video before wednesday either!

good job really seeing as the only tenuous link to nature is the fact that there's a bush and a bit of a tree somewhere in shot for some of the time ubblol

ooh, 15 minutes before the deadline...
A nature documentary on Poi
it's about 20 MB, but hey, it's on time! Anyway, please take into regard that I've been very busy this week and haven't had time to do things like:
a) learning lines
b) come up with a half decent script
c) sort out decent sound effects

anyway, for what it's worth, I hope you like it! smile

You, my man, are a star!

Classic. Loved it...

I also loved organic poi. Nice one Non!
