This morning I got my answer. No, I didn't pick something up off someone.

There's a large black fly in my apartment and the little winged motherlover has bit me about six times in various sensitive spots! censored censored censored censored censored censored censored

And so after bathing myself in benadryl cream, I'm finally comfortable.

Those things bloody hurt as well! Not like a mossie where it itches afterwards...you can actually feel their shlurpy thing going into your skin. Argh!

I've never heard of them laying eggs under peoples skin. If that was tsetse flies then I must have some more reading up to do!

I remember learning about horse flies' mouth parts at school.
(This is a bit gory... sorry)

They're like a blender so they make a cross shaped cut in your skin, stick their blade-like mouth parts into you and whizz them round like a blender would. Then they can suck up the resulting mush. Kind of like human smoothie.

Posted:A couple years ago my face was practically eaten by black flies. But when they bite you, you can't feel it, so I never knew I was being bitten! After a day in the bush, on the left side of my face and neck alone there were more than 25 black fly bites. Apparently they were all pretty bloody and gory too, but as I said, I didn't feel any of the bites!!
