Taken last night, let me know what you think, these are with some home-made poi.

Preview here...doing a butterfly in this one I think. The photos really don't do these justice, I'm going to video tape these soon.

I think they do like 8 different patterns.

Nice, are they durable? Can you simply tie a shoelace to the end of it and go from there? Look like fun, though I'd be afraid of breaking them.

They're fairly durable, I've whacked them together a number of times. Nowhere near as durable as electroglo poi though, and they are made for bicycle spokes so they were quite difficult to turn into poi. I had to first use a hacksaw to cut off the pieces that attach it to the spokes of a bicycle, then find a very thick clear plastic bag to wrap around them and attach chains to the plastic. I felt chains were a must here because these things weigh quite a bit (3 AA batteries in EACH one) and I was afraid anything else might break. They have an interesting effect with the patterns, but I hardly use them as they are a bit odd shaped and have a strange spin to them.

I much prefer electroglos, but these are nice every once in a while (when I feel like having my fingers pulled off from the weight).

Amazing. Aerotech or someone needs to make "electroglo ropes" which are like a tube flexible enough to do wraps with which are jam packed full of super bright LED's and a chip to make them do awesome patterns like that.

Ultima tubes aren't very flexible at all and they don't do nearly as many intricated designs and patterns as these hokey spokes. The crazy hokey spokes can even do customized text messages.

One problem I had with these, the first time I cracked them together, one of the buttons to program text messages broke.

Hey! Those look just like the poi that I proposed in here! Nice to see the theory in action!

I'd still like to see a version that spells out messages. Could be fun.

- "Glow rules"
