jean sent me this in an email and i thought it was worth sharing smile

I understand that scissors can beat paper, and I get how rock can beat scissors, but there's no f*%king way paper can beat rock. Paper is supposed to magically "wrap around" rock, rendering it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why-- BECAUSE PAPER CAN'T BEAT ANYBODY! A rock would tear that sh it up in 2 seconds.

When I play rock/paper/scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper, I punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, "Oh sh it, I'm sorry. I thought that paper would protect you"

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourself, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous and talented? Who are you NOT to be?

I feel like UCOF (or Cole maybe) posted something about a huge rock-scissors-paper matrix of many more hand symbols with even more contrived reasons for winning an losing.

indeed, Mr UCOF [Old link]. i'd love to see someone try to play it though, with 25 different hand shapes i'm sure you could claim you were doing one move when you were doing another.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

hole beats rock
but i don't understand why the hole doesn't beat all the other fuss...

How can a hole beat anything? By its very nature it's... welll.. a hole. There's nothing in it...

the paper question has always plagued me... I suppose you could papier mache (sp?) the rock.. so it looked like paper.

Surely the paper is the most powerful of the three?

Vs Rock - you could use the paper to write a letter to your local municipal authorities asking them to remove the rock because it's causing an obstruction.

we used to play the complex version in primary school. there were some standard ones, but then we'd make shyte up and argue over what it could beat!
