I regret to inform you that Reg Bolton passed away in his sleep on the night of the 14th of July, 4 months short of his 61st birthday. He was working in northern Western Australia with the kids at the Kununurra Agricultural Show – doing what he loved and what he did best.

Many within the fire and circus community in Australia knew him well due to his involvement in events and festivals throughout the country and especially his work with children and youth. His cheerful and cheeky ways will be greatly missed.

Just spoke to a friend of the family and the service will probably not be for another week while they sort out stuff.

My friends son passed away a few years ago and we had a service including all the passions in his life. A druidic service with a medieval armoured guard escorting the SES carrying our friend.

Regs family want something similar, will be lovely to see Reg have a extraordinary leaving to complement the impact he has had in life.
The family have had calls from so many people saying how Reg saved and touched lives.

i met him at the Galconda Circus festival last year, really great guy.

when i read the title i was like "............what?", he was quite young, does anyone know why he died?

its a great loss to ACAPTA and the Austrailian circus community in general.

Family & Friends,

It is with overwhelming sadness, we wish to inform you that our dearest Reginald Ernest Bolton passed away suddenly in his sleep on the night of the 14th of July 2006.
He was working up north with the kids at the Kununurra Agricultural show; doing what he loved and what he did best.

A public funeral service for Reg will be held at Saint Georges Cathedral in Perth (38 St Georges Terrace) on Saturday the 29th of July 2006.

All are welcome.

The service will begin at 9.30am sharp so we suggest you arrive by 9am as parking can be tricky in the city. (Nearest Car park is on Pier Street)

Refreshments will be available in the Hall adjacent to the Cathedral, following the service.

The cathedral is currently undergoing major restorations but entry will still be through the main front doors.

Red noses are welcome.

A big celebration of Regs life will follow on Sunday the 30th of July.
All further details, including the address for an online forum which will be set up in memory of Reg, will be posted on this page.

If you are coming from out of town and need a place to stay, do let us know and we will find a bed for you (Sophie 0416 395 755 or sophie@totaltheatre.com.au)

We were privileged to work for a week with Reg at Woodford last year in our Circadia community circus/spinny space. He was such a wonderfully talented man, able to bring people together, adults and children, to inspire people at all levels. While being humble, cooperative and generous. We will miss him terribly this year. But I am determined to continue the space and make it even better, and dedicate it to his memory...

As far as we're all aware he just passed away in his sleep. Went to bed just fine in the evening and didn't wake up the next morning.

I met Reg at Circadia during the Woodford Folk Festival. He was a truly amazing man, with that classic demeanor of grumpiness barely hiding a heart of gold. I have never seen anyone work so well with a bunch of kids, some who would just descend on Circadia for an hour then disappear.

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...
