Temperature in New York City was about 100F (39C) and humid. More tomorrow.

I can't get the temperature in my apartment below 85F (30C) in spite of 21,000 BTU's of cooling power. It's still 88F (32C) outside so I can't even open the windows to help the machines out.

It's disgusting...

I own a booth and perform at Ren Faires on weekends.

This past Sunday it hit 113 (about 45) in Pennsylvania, which is unfreaking heard of. With the 98% humidity we had people passing out in our booth (cause it's decorated gypsy-harem style with pillows and fabrics everywhere), I couldn't function verbally, and the henna was melting down people as they puddled.

It was a crapload of fun, as Ren usually is, but it was so far beyond hot there were no words.

Did you know that there was a study which "proves" cold showers don't work.

1. Who needed a study for that? It's something I already knew.

2. Why was I not smart enough to think of it and why was I not invited to score it?

And Mike would just make a cold shower hot anyway.

To cool you down or to make you go 'down boy'?

And yes I too am perplexed as to who conducted a study on it, how they applied for the grant who were the willing volunteers for the experiment...

Both. The actual temp one was done a long time ago. The one I am talking about is the down boy factor.

I want to read that grant though...and the scientific findings of the report. lol

But in this hot weather, it all still applies. wink

Yeah it's hot lets crank up the machines to help it cool us down rolleyes

Sorry but I'm presuming you're talking about air con, I hate air con it's killing us. You know in the UK we're now close to consuming as much power in the summer as we do in the winter just to cool us down frown

I like to open windows, use fans and make the most of not feezing my ass off for a change....maybe cuz I'm in the uk I'm just more grateful for hot weather! ubblol

It's gonna b 37degrees here tomorrow, thank fully not very humid tho (50%) which makes a change.....

I consumed 10 litres of water in an 8 hour period. And went to the toilet once.

That was teh utter horridness, i tell you. Though i didn't end up with heatstroke, headaches, or any other nastiness (i ached a bit, but that's to be expected). All praise water, huh?

When I was a kid the tar on our road would bubble in relatively low heat. I had a pair of crap shoes my mom would let me put on just to go pop the tar bubbles.

But it does make me wonder, who the hell makes roads out of melty materials, just in case?

We did discover at the faire a way to make the extreme temps seem almost tropical and cool...step into the port-a-potty (so I am told). It was obscene in more ways that one (which is why I used a bush or held it) but everyone who used it came out saying the 114f heat was cool and refreshing after being in there. Mike, you should get one, slap it on a rooftop and when you feel the extreme heat, just sit in there a spell and come out. Instant refreshment.

Looks like Mand better move over, cause if Calgary is feeling like that, then I am all over it!

It says it's 22*C here, but it feels a bit cooler - probably becasue it's completely overcast!

It was 32*C this weekend during my rowing regatta. Fun times. Don't think I've ever sweated that much in my lifetime. The summer here hasn't been too bad, if a little foggy.

Nice sun! Here in Scotland it's so dry that I don't mind the sun, it's moisture and heat I can't stand...

Ireland last week was similar, though at some point in the morning when the sun started coming up (and after it hadn't cooled down all night) we were sweating so much that water was dripping off the tent ceiling (Neon, Doc and whoever else, keep your dirty thoughts about sweating to yourselves tongue!!!)

But then I'm used to warm summers from Germany, so to me it's only fair that for once I should get some of that on this island smile

Don't really like air conditioning for waste of energy, but then we need it here in the lab or the experiments won't work and the -80C freezers break down... and guess what, after a year of working here they've managed to adjust the AC so that it's ALMOST working! ubblol
