Ok, so the deal is, weekend meet, along the Wales/England border.

Dates: 29th Sept-1st October

Location: Court Farm Campsite , Llanthony, nr. Abergavenny for a minimal fee of £2 per person per night. 4 quid!! Two pubs within walking distance and a really old priory... Court farm have said they will cordon off half the campsite for camping and spinning, but no bonfires sorry!

All other information can be found on the wiki including a list of attendees definately and maybe, please add your name as soon as possible if you're coming because i need to let the campsite know!

Wiki is at borderpatrol.wikispaces.com. And contains also a space for arranging lifts. The nearest train station is Abergavenny and it's 15mins drive, so if you come by train at all, please put it on there, you WILL need a lift!

if anyone is coming by train, can you please please please let me know beforehand what time roughly you will arrive in abergavenny, because i am less than convinced that my phone will work!

Hope to see lots of you there!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Cath and I had a great afternoon/evening. I hope none of you got washed out of your tents. The rain was fairly heavy over night. On the drive home we saw lightning and flash floods.

Uhm, ok. That answers my question. Don't want to end up in a deserted swamp tongue.

Well, I hope you still all had a good time and for the overnight campers: hope stuff didn't get washed out! You, brave souls...

I'm very gutted, I came up saturday afternoon, about quarter to 6 and according to the farmer, you lot were down the pub. So there was me wandering around an empty field thinking "ok...what do i do know", accidently tripped over someone's guyrope - no damage smile. Somehow i decided it best not to randomly walk into a pub saying 'excuse me are you the hop lot' to a load of strangers as knowing me, i would have got the wrong pub!

such a shame about the weather, last night i was looking out of my window thinking thank goodness i'm not out in this!

Hope you all had a good time in spite of the weather!

You couldn't have really missed us in the pub. We are a bit conspicuous when we get into a big group. As for not knowing which pub, the best bet is usually the closest pub to the camp site. We are not known for long treks unless they involve Mags telling us it will only be 5 mins down the road (when Mags tells you a time length you have to remember to add on at least 50 mins).

oh man, sorry we missed you buggleberry, although you probably would have quite easily have found us in the pub, it wasn't full of that many hippies getting drunk and doing mexican waves around a big table... frown we will just have to get you to another meet sometime. ...I'm curious to know how the farmer knew we were in the pub though, maybe he was spying on us... eek

The rain was pretty darn wet... that's a shame, but it doens't happen ALL the time in Wales... really... i mean really really... does anyone believe me anymore more...? probably not ubblol Thanks everybody for coming and putting up with it biggrin smile

i just unleashed a beetle from my backpack, that apparently i must've packed ubblol

That journey back turned into a mission and a half - it took five and a half hours to get home due to traffic, roadworks and rain.

Still, worth it though I reckon, despite the rain. Cheers for sorting it all out Non smile

Great weekend guys and gals. Thanks to all who made sitting in a wet Welsh field so much more fun that it should be smile and thanks to everyone who spent half of their sunny minutes looking for the various bits of my whips that had fallen/broken off.

on the whole a lovely weekend (erm...afternoon/night/morning) that was only slightly marred by almost continuous torrential rain.

Thanks to Neil and Gayle for putting us up in their über tent, as I drove home I remembered my sugar that was spilt in there...sorry to whoever had the tast of clearing it out redface Apart from that I think I left no other scars except for the ones on Syms neck from whipping him with his own hair ubblol devil

Highlights:

Being a spectator to the monoply game of the year.

Discovering the dry barn was open on Sunday morning that could have been used at any point over the weekend. (better late than never tho eh!) and then climbing the hay stack.

Weeeeels very late arrival Sunday morning

Lovely new peeps I'd never met before hug2

Lovely old peeps I haven't seen for a while hug

The pub, the mexican wave, and getting back to the tent before the torrential downpour wink

The Lowlights:

Rain rain rain

Being poorly and spending two hours in self inflicted isolation (in the car, in the dark) till I felt that I wouldn't explode from either end at any moment. I blame the cider.....

Having to go to be early on Saturday night because of feeling rough. I wish I could have stayed up long enough for the Property Ping in monopoly (very grand gesture from Neil)

Forgetting to take Backgammon along.

Thanks for sorting out such a lovely location Non hug it really was beautiful stuck between mountains at a great priory, if only it had sunshined a little!

So when's the next one? biggrin

hug
