i think u misunderstand how a 3bt weave works, its the same as in front of you, your right hand will make TWO beats on the LEFT SIDE of your body and ONE on the RIGHT SIDE of your body, this is why its called a 3 beat weave because each hand does a total of 3 beats before the pattery repeats. so by what you are describing above...you are doing it corectly.

How many spins do you do with your left hand on your left side?

and your right hand on your right side ?

Should be 1 on each side.

Doing 2 spins on each side would be a 4 beat weave, but that's a bit different and probably not what you're trying to do.

ok i knew it would be confusing

when i start my left is over my right side - that does 2 beats whilst my right does one (following it) but then goes over to the left and does 2 beats, whilst my left eventually comes over to the left and does 1

so my right is doing 1 beat right, 2 bts left

whilst my left is doing 2 beats right, 1 beat left

hope thats more understandable

um, that is EXACTLY a 3bt weave

i don't understand why there is a problem, you ARE doing it correctly. You have just described a perfect 3bt btb weave. As long as all the above is in split time then you have nothing to worry about. Go back to doing a 3bt weave in front of yourself and pay attention to what your hands/poi do, then you will see it is the same behind your back.

lol dont worry - its obv to complicated to explain...altho i'll give one last shot...



ok perfect 3 bt at the front for me is 2 bts on the right with my left AND right hand, then 1 bt on the left with both hands



when i do btb i do 2 bts on the right with my left hand but only 1 with my right hand, then i do 2 bts on the left with my right hand but only one with my left hand - whereas i believe it should be 2 beats on the right with both hands (split obv) then over to the left for a beat both hands...if this still doesnt make sense then its either me or it needs to be seen rather than said lol

Erm no it's not to complicated cos you described a perfect 3 beat weave.

Right hand: 2 beats on the left side + 1 beat on the right side
Left hand : 1 beat on the left side + 2 beats on the right side

(1+2=3 beat weave)

I think the problem is at what point on the circle you are counting your beats:
(nb forwards means if the poi were a wheel it would roll forwards, backwards would roll backwards)


Spinning forwards in front of you : count beat at the bottom of the circle
Spinning backward in front of you : count beat at the top

Spinning forwards behind the back : count beat at the top
Spinning backward behind the back : count beat at the bottom

wooooo i got it - turns out i was doing my front one wrong - i just let my arms go where they want to now!

sadly i dont have enough space on my gallery to do that yet.

what a shame...i'll just have to embarress myself some other way

but seriously - by the time i get enough space i'll prob be actually good enough to do a short lil vid for ya'll (obv bein good enough to me means not hitting myself or having an 'ahhhh'; axpression on my face when my poi are out of control!).
