I am trying to find out what Comic book hero's have been made into films, such as Spiderman, Superman (and girl), Batman, X-men, Hulk, Daredevil etc. (to name but a few ??)

Now does anybody know a web site that will give me just a bloody list of them as I've surfed for hours and there's just a lot of junk out there.

Or indeed does anybody know all of 'em ??

Any good ideas will be much appreciated and I'll buy you a beer for the best ones ! (plus it also gives me a chance to put in the beer gremlin!)

Thanks guys and gals.

yay! a comic book post

now, do you want a list of all comics characters in films ever (so for batman, you'd get batman, joker, alfred, commissioner gordon etc.) or do you just want a list of the names of all the films?

and is it just superheroes or *all* comic based films (eg. ghost world).

In production:
Watchmen
(directed by Darren Aronofsky. Written by Alan Moore. Going to be big)
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
(Also written by Alan Moore. Victorian superheroes thing where Captain Nemo, the guy out of King Solomon's mines, Harker's wife out of Dracula, Dr Jekyll and the Invisible Man all team up to fight Victorian style villains like Fu-Manchu)
and I think there's a Punisher film being made.
plus I heard whispers about a Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers film being shot

Made already:

Flash Gordon
The Flash
The Rocketeer
From Hell
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
about a billion Anime films, most notably Akira.
The Phantom (WARNING billy zane wearing purple latex)
Judge Dredd
Dobermann (WARNING extreme case of style over substance, but hey, you guys liked the Matrix didn't you )
Tank Girl
Blade
The Mask
Swamp Thing
Spawn (WARNING very crap)
Conan? was he originally a comic character?
the 70s Spiderman and Batman films. Better than the new ones IMO

ummmmmmm that'll do for now. May be back for an edit

Witchblade. The Shadow (Alec Baldwin). There was an older Punisher movie starring Dolph Lundgren, made in the 80's.

Hmmm,

Ghost World (which rocked although does it does not really count as a superhero movie I suppose!)

I hope they make a version of Preacher - kind of a messed up superhero but hey

I'm a messed up kind of gal!

Sorry can't help with a list

the watchmen film will be the be all and end all. the script is *amazing* apparently and darren aronofsky is on my top 5 directors list - unfortunately it hasn't even made pre-production yet...

wasn't aronofsky pencilled in to do 'batman: year one' too?

personally, i want a tv series of 100 bullets, a film version of midnight nation (i jms) and an adult cartoon based on powers.

sorry for not helping with the list much but simian got most of them i think - old batman movies better than the michael keaton version though...? not sure there man...

I don't know if it was a comic book first, but there's also Mystery Men.

Not so much Superhero, but well worth a watch or three.

Although not a "Superhero" per se, I'd kill for another Shaft movie.

The Hulk film is being directed by Ang Lee (who did The Ice Storm and Sense & Sensibility), and Eric Bana (from Chopper ) is playing Bruce Banner & the Hulk.

Come on then, I want to see what I missed

ooh, like Darkman and Howard the Duck.

Coleman: a cartoon based on Powers would indeed kick ass. And yeah, Watchmen is one of those films that keeps on almost happening, then dies. I remember Kevin Smith was meant to be doing it a while back
And you know the old Batman movie was better. Michael Keaton just doesn't have the right stuff to wrestle plastic sharks. I dunno, it depends on whether you see Batman in a "Dark Knight" kinda way, or in a "I dress up as a small flying rodent to fight ridiculously implausible villains". I find high camp far more entertaining than Gothic navel gazing (admittedly Tim Burton does a pretty nice mix of dark and camp. Hmm, Dark Camp. Its a pretty good description of his style really)

(HOP is really bringing out my inner nerd recently. First the Xbox vs PS2 thread, and now one about comics. I even made a Star Trek reference the other day
Right, that does it. From now on I'm only going to talk about beer, cars and football.)
