Posted:Has anyone ever seen a dedication in the front of a book that they really liked? I started a new Tad Williams book today, and remembered the ones from the "Otherland" series:

Book 1:

"This Book is dedicated to my father Joseph Hill Evans with love.
Actually Dad doesnt read fiction, so if someone doesnt tell him about this, hell never know."

Book 2:

"This Book is dedicated to my father Joseph Hill Evans with love.
As I said before, Dad doesnt read fiction. He still hasnt noticed that this thing is dedicated to him. This is Volume Two lets see how man more until he catches on."

Book 3:

"This is still dedicated to you-know-who, even if he doesnt.
Maybe we can keep this a secret all the way to the final volume."

Book 4:

"My father still hasnt actually cracked any of the books so, no, he still hasnt noticed. I think Im just going to have to tell him. Maybe I should break it to him gently.

'Everyone here who hasnt had a book dedicated to them, take three steps forward. Whoops, Dad, hang on there for a second...' "

Thats excellent!!

Not quite the same but me and a friend who i didnt see very often used to exchange gifts, and the first he gave me was a VERY good book, and he wrote the following inside the front cover...

"I love this book almost as much as i lov you,
and i love you almost as much as i love myself."

Thought it was kinda sweet in a narcissistic kinda way!!
