I heard on the radio that it has been found that a gene is responsible for eczema and asthma, but only for some sufferers. It could lead to treatments that fights the cause ! biggrin

Anyone heard anything more about this?

take a look

That's exciting.

It'll be interesting to see if they can figure out a treatment based on it.

Pimecrolimus and Tacrolimus are currently leading-edge therapy. Kinda brutish, in my opinion...

Hope they can come up with something better than the nasty steroid creams they have now which can do more damage to your skin than they cure..

Doc: I have never been tempted with the whole, tampering of the immune system thing, i wonder if any new drugs would be a similar thing. I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait a good few years for anything too. Hopefully we wont hurt anyone in the process

that would be amazing if it came to pass.

ive got mild asthma and i was a sufferer of eczema when i was younger.

it would be nice to be normal and healthy. sadly i doubt it will happen for a while.

ive got my hopes up now!

If your athsmatic take up jogging it will strengthen your lung capacity. Helped me out loads. I think thats one of the bigger problems with athsma today, were doing less exercise (and getting fatter at the same time) which dosent help the initial situation.
