I thought this was worth a look, if not a discussion.

At least to show the rest of the world what the US thinks of our own president these days.

Kinda interesting no? At least you can plan your vacations accordingly based on your opinion. I'm in that light blue state on the right.

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

No, it was more along the lines that if I moved to our capital then I could influence the popularity of Mr Blair in the same way...

Although you're right Tao Star, you'd have to be freaking nuts to live in London wink rolleyes

I like the way that the eastern states have all kinds of wobbly state lines.
It's almost as if as the people pushing their way west started off enthusiastic but got fed up towards the end and just got out a ruler to divide everything up smile

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Lots of history and geography to justify the Eastern Colonies being so small and scattered and the Western States being so expansive. Even things like the fact that you can have ports up and down the northeast but not California led to larger density in places like New York and Boston.

The eastern states tended to use a lot of natural boundaries such as rivers and mountains. The property lines in those states are based on gradual acquisition by settlers. The land across the midwest consists of a lot more open territory. It was often acquired in huge sections, then divided up into square tracts by the government.

Yeah, I know a little about the reasons why it looks like that, but I just like the idea of a cartographer bent over his desk, working deep into the night, before shouting 'sod it, I'm too tired', suddenly throwing down his compasses and stacks of precise measurements, grabbing a ruler and pencil and finishing it off quickly smile wink

Here's a realted question...

I just saw Bush getting destroyed at a White House press conference.

Why now?

Why is Bush's approval rating tanking now? He's not doing anything differently. I don't get it...

I'm confused by that too. Its ... weird. Like many things. I still don't understand why living in london is equivalent to new york... shouldn't you mean D.C.? Bush doesn't live in New York...

Michigan was doing well as well. But NY and Maine are the only two states to hit -43.....
New York has special reason to dislike him tho, they've taken something that happened here and used it as an excuse for every stupid thing they've done and then some. Of course they want to smack him upside the head....

The map is ultimately hypnotizing I must say.

And There's some rivery lines left in the map... like idaho and montana.... oklahoma and texas.... stuff tongue

I think I need sleep now tho...
