I only watched the first five minutes - unfortunately, it's not really the kind of comedy I find funny enough to watch all of when I should have gone to bed about 4 hours ago.
If you read this, could you do me a massive favour and change the thread title to something that shows what this thread's actually about? It'll help the search engine work much better and let people find it again later.

Oh I dunno.... some American comedians are really good.... but I just hate it when americans dis English humour... when quite clearly its the best suff out there.
Though that might possibly be the most annoying intro I've ever seen...

The UK is better for surreal comedy (Bill Bailey/Eddie Izzard etc etc) and plain sarcasm which the Americans can't seem to get. I lived with a guy from Kentucky last year and it took him about three months to get some of the running jokes that were floating about in halls especially the "Invaiding Britney with spears jokes while playing Medieval Total War and chimp rape jokes that went around for a while.

I'd like to say that I love American humour and UK humour but there is no comparison. Its like comparing dogs to cats, theres a world of difference between the styles and each have really funny performers and really really bad ones.

Many American Comics like Stephen Wright, Mitch Hedburg and even old guys like Rodney Dangerfield all have 'one liners' as a mainstay of their comedy.
In contrast, not many American comics use 'storytelling' like most of the UK guys do.
I think that Quintessential American Comedian "Jay Leno" is a master of the technical joke. Don't get confused, he's not one of my favorites, but he is absolutely clinical in his "Setup, Joke, Laugh" sequence. The guy is a workaholic and you can tell. He's probably got more hours of logged technical standup than any American in history. He's on every night at 11 and is the most popular American Latenight Host. (Before Americans yell at me, I don't think that Letterman or Carson are quite as technical.)
