I had a question.

What is the opinion on our art form going mainstream?
Does it hurt, or help?
Should we work towards making it a mainstream art form?
Thats all out of me for now

Honestly the fire arts have been trickling into the mainstream for some time now. I hear about fire performances at bars and clubs all the time now where people lighting things on fire would normally be really out of place.

What does this mean for fire arts? Well it means that more and more people will pick it up and try to perform anywehere they can. At best it means that fire arts will lose much of the mistique it held and the audiances will be much less impressed. At worst it will fill poi gatherings with masses of pousers and BS attiudes making people like me not want to go to gatherings any more. And it will most likely quadrupal the amount of guys in the audiance going "Whatever, I could do that. I just don't want to."

Jesus helps me trick people.

So the fire show was good, Although everyone was above me, on a balcony. I live it much more when the croud is right there with me. Then they are in the fire to, rather than above and watching (like God). Most of my moves are for straight vertical, or horizontal viewer.
I need moves on an angle not of those plains. (So diaginal up)

I guess they liked it tough, They wan't me to do another.

I just did a 2nd show but I chamged the location! It was out back (instead of being in front with the balcony) where it was flat and the viewer was Leval and right there witth me, in the pit. (instea dof being above me on the balcony, Looking down.)
Location it a big thing, I see, when it involves parillel or 45* looking down at you.
I need more moves for that angle.

I don't think ankone is going to read this anyways. Or the other postings above this one.

On another and entirely unrelated note, my landlord said tonight that I remind her of an X-boyfriend? What does that mean? I bet, no one responds.
Good night,

Lemme get this straight: you just got laid by your landlord? Does this mean you don't have to pay rent this month?

hello my little drunken slush muppet

Hee hee hee, you're funny when you're drunk! Your landlord - or should that be landlady? (unless they're a tranny!) probably said it cos they want to give you the impression that you're equally appealing, if not more, than their ex. I.e.... jump into my jungle NOW tiger, GGRrrRrrrr Or maybe it was just one of those ickle off hand comments that people sometimes make without knowing why

See, someone did reply How many brownie points do I get for bothering with that one??? I'd also settle for a choc-chip cookie....

A couple of us old timers kicked this one around a while ago... we called it:

The Poi Fad

...

My points remain the same. Except I don't think it's changed in size much over the past year that I've been spinning. Some cities burn out on Poi just as others are being overrun. It's pretty dead in New York for example. And last year it was crazy this time of year.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

okay, after some editing by yours truly, I need to ask that we cool it with the drunken sexual references.

We need to keep this site PG. We also actively recommend against the mixing of alcohol and fire dancing. It's unsafe.

Whatsmore - drunken performance resulting in "benefits" does not in any way pertain to the subject at hand. Please keep on topic.

Thanks and have a nice day.

I can't remember?
I am sorry for getting off track in my drunkeness.
I thoght I would be hidden in the Main Stream of things.
Very sorry that you had to take athority Flash.
I agree Alcohal and Fire do not mix so well! I haven't been drunk in a long time, and I think it showed.
O-well this thread will move on down the River, because I don't think Fire is so 'Main Stream' anyway. (more of an underground waterway) At least I hope it doesn't become MS!
