Did you actually cut up a wet suit or have you found a cheap way of getting neoprene?

oooo - good idea rob - expensive mind if you do use a wet suite, saying that you could alway alter the full body ones to a shorty...... that will give you at least 4 grips

Fuel shouldnt really get on your grip that much at all dude, make your stickout of whatever you want
Found lots of over seas companies selling sheet materials -
this was cheapest so far.
also as far as recyling goes here could be good.
Although shipping charges will apply, the weight shouldnt mean it would cost that much.

They supply alot of neoprene products to our company for construction and can supply stuff already adhesive backed... which would be sweet

i did that too, several yonks ago, and still do to make kids staffs in a 'make your own staff' workshop.... but i like this sooooo much more. it seems like it will wear less. bike tubes go shiny and nasty eventually, imo.
i'm going to go to the shop in sydney where i can get a carrier bag of neoprene for $1 and bring some over for testing....
off to give them their first uberspin today...

i use the auld bog standard bike tubes too, i find that they give fantastic grip after many MANY soins. the one downfall that ive noticed is weather. when it rains its like spinning a greased eel. love to see how this neoprene stuff feels.

surely you just wouldn't use eel as grip unless you were harcore and anything els was just too easy.

They have that wonderful ability to go from staff to hoop in a few rotations which makes for some erm 'interesting' performances.
Just make sure you don't use an electric one... I tried once and ouch

um. i haven't put neoprene on my fire staffs. they're my practice/travel ones....
but i will, as soon as i get back to the Yoo-k, and i doubt it'll mely any worse than hockey grip..
and eels are wussy. i use a taipan.

How does it handle fire Rob ?
When fuel leeks down the staff when dipping then burn off, and u have flames that travell up the staff. Does it melt or burn ?
