has anyone tried making a single heavyweight fire chain using kevlar rope? You could interweave the rope through the chain links and attach a wooden handle to one side.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it and been successful.

Or maybe fire whip

These may help you (again not exactly the same).

If you plait the kelvar rope, you will find that this is quite heavy by itself, and you may not need the chain, which could cause problems of damaging and wearing the wick down quickly. Also, interweaving the wick with the chain, may cause it to loose flexabilty, depending on how you did it.

Posted:If you want something dramatic to just swing in a big circle, I saw a really cool one a while back- basically a wire cage on a rope with the cage filled with wire wool.. stuff some fuel-soaked rag in, set fire, sparks fly out everywhere when you swing it round..

Looks amazing, but probably lethal.. don't let anyone else stand within about 5 meters..
