Todays video for your pleasure:

Baton twirling - Sheryl Welykholowa, Jill Ford, Stacy Singer - Triple Threat

Linky linky

Details: On stage probably 2002 . A super tight performances from world champion standard baton twirlers.

Amazingly talented trio including Stacy Singer doing monster rolls - a move apparently invented for her and remamed matrix by the edinburgh staff twirlers.

See Glitzy stuff, 3 baton juggling, contact sequence and some qualilty strutting about.

If you like this, make a post below. If you have any requests, I can post them too. biggrin

MCP - RE Bo Staff vid.

That's a shocker! Is he really trying to teach people or is he just showing off that he can spin it fast...

When I teach the exact same moves, it always helps to keep the speed slow for several days to get the action smooth.

Speeding it up just messes up the pattern and makes it muchg harder to get consistsently (and then speed if you want) later.

This guy doesn't even explain what he is saying or doing, just, like, make sure you are grabbing and pushing grabbing and pushing...

Makes me think Art of Staff isn't too bad despite it's age...

they cost a lot.

like at least £500 pound. Contact a circus school, they should know some people... either that or the guy that originally did it, Daniel Cyr... he works for Cirque Eloize..

I don't see why they should be so expensive aside from they're a super specialized tool... Looks just like a big hoop though with nothing else... Aluminum or steel, 6' - 6.5' diameter, 1.5" - 2" tubing?? Probably wouldn't cost so much if you could find the materials and tools to make it yourself. I don't think it has any sort of handles - looks like hes just grabbing hold though I wonder how he does the rolls without cutting off his fingers hehe.

yeah that expensive. Considering it needs to be a perfect circle, so you have to get a decent metal bender, who can do that size of bend. It has to be sized to the individual, it should be made of ALI, cos steel would be super heavy, and since there's no way of shipping a hoop of that size, you have to buy a break down 5 piece version, it needs specialised well fitting joints that are probably welded in, as well as a pvc skin on it. 500 is like a pretty normal price.

Yeah... I did learn it a little, but my roue needs joints added and a skin now... so we need to find another metal bender and welder... more money...

I've talked with many people about how underrated footwork is in the Poi community. I, myself, never move my feet. And I am horrible person because of it.

So the new rule is: Nobody's allowed to post poi/staff/juggling videos anymore unless they are crip walking.

Meg, I expect you to be leading the way in this. You've at least got the wardrobe and slouch for it.

Basic Crip Walking (to a very cool song):

More advanced Crip Walking/Gliding... I mean, c'mon, how cool would this be if he was spinning a staff or even three ball juggling at the same time....

(Drew, check this kid's musicality, he's even hitting the breaks... how hot is that?)

And don't be tellin' me that Brit's ain't got no moves... cuz you know they do...

OK, got it? Everybody - crip walking. Preferably all the time but if it's only when the video camera is on, I guess that's OK.

Carry on, I'll check back to see how you're doing in a bit.

Well, shall we go?

Lol, yes... You think that's cool, just go to Burning Man... You'll see the most unique thing you've ever seen roll past you every 3 minutes.

Yeh... Well, I know New York is pretty soft these days but Philly isn't. If I go crip walking around here I will get shot, fer real... And chances are it wouldn't be a crip behind the gun - more like some 16 yr old who kills me on principle for crip walking in red shoes! I do occasionally bust it out when I'm at raves or something and feel 'safe' smile
