Was just reading the wikipedia entry on poi, and scrolled down to read: "Split time and split direction moves are possible, and some of the more difficult moves, such as the dreaded 'five beat weave' can seem, to a beginner, like they're impossible to perform with only one set of elbows!"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poi_%28juggling%29

Seeing how the variety (and difficulty level) of poi moves has come along, would you replace that entry, and what would you replace it with? biggrin

i wouldnt replace it, cos to a beginner, a 5bt weave does seem like you have bendy arms lol but i'm surprised there is no mention of isolations, or home of poi for that matter tongue

but it could be replaced with btb5bt, infinate hyperloops or antispin flowers i guess tongue

I've added isolations and hyperloops as difficult moves, removed word "dreaded" associated with 5b weave weave, change capital leeter "R" form 'Reels', to 'reels' and remove the part "can seem, to a beginner, like they're impossible to perform with only one set of elbows!".

Nothing elese.

Some more advanced tricks involve body wraps, which involve wrapping a poi string around an arm or leg, then pulling it to swing the poi back in the opposite direction

Thats advanced?!
A person with out any poi skills at all could wrap a string with a weight on the end around their arm and back again.

I'd say it was a very precise entry that needs little modification or expansion

Some popular poi tricks include: reels, weaves, fountains, crossovers and windmills.

Hmm.. This is a little annoying that I couldn't actually tell you what a reel, fountain or crossover is...

Indeed Richee... posting pics is much easier than explaining a five beat weave biggrin

And while my pic may look like a springy-type ball... it is in fact an atom. Apparently. Well, google said so, so it must be true.

Also, one beat weave:

Sometimes tricky to get more than 5 because you seldom see that many in one place to beat. Commonly, a beginner may practise somewhere like an open air basketball court, because of the flat ground and easy access to 2 beat weaves. hehe

Meg, that's the best anti-spin staff and hoop I've ever seen smile

Sorry Richee biggrin

Ok. To do a five beat weave:

Do your normal weave.

When the poi are on your right hand side, twist your right hand over and under your left for an extra spin. This hand will then 'carry' your left hand across to the left.

When the poi are on your left hand side, twist your left hand over and under your right for an extra spin. This hand will then push your right hand back across to the right.

Clear as mud?

Lol, ok, so I'm not going to be submitting any wiki entries... how would you describe it?
