A title like, I've invented a new move is always asking for trouble on the forum. I think virtually everything has been done already, but it's always cool to see footage of poi heads doing their thing. The stuff that they are dicussing as "new" will make your head spin. That one handed stuff would be classed as old fashioned spinning these days. Unless you can do a one handed butterfly flower, with one of the poi antispin. Mind you thats not new either.

Welcome to hop BTW, most of the time the people here are quite freindly biggrin

7bt without a wrap or elbows is where its at.

not that i can do either but a 7bt with a (thru)wrap is like spinning a 5bt by doing a 3bt weave with a wrap - its cool but it ain't the same thing smile

i've even heard that people can do a 9beat weave. without wrapping? how many joints does that need?

Good explanation on the 7 bt weave.

Here's another variation on the 5 bt weave:

Old wrist

New Reversed wrist

This has to step into something else, a wrap?

Shen,

You must smoke exactly 5 joints in order to do such a move tongue
Kidding of course... But you should search for the video of Rev doing 11 beats without wraps. Is a fun watch even though youll never understand it wink

Saint,
Whats with the new/old wrists? As far as I know, people have been doing both since the 5 beat was discovered. And Im not sure what you mean by asking if it steps into something else? Surely anything can be worked into a wrap.

ICoN,

They explained the 7 bt soo well I was able to do it last night, so I edited my post.

As for the question, a friend and I we're having a discussion about wraps. Apparently there is 4 different wraps in the foreword weave*. I can do 4 in the reverse weave*, but I never thought about doing a "reversed wrap foreward weave*" move until recently.

*3 bt weave

Anyway's, I know this is the wrong post, but it started out on: [URL:https://www.homeofpoi.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Board/UBB3/Number/606807/page/0/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/3]
The best spinner in the world... and the state of spinning today [/URL]

I'm just looking for a place to put basics in perspective, because learning this move and "realizing" that you are doing something different is about as difficult as learning a harder move (if you don't have a comprehensive example like mine).
I thought if we have basic examples of broken up variations on these moves we'd be able to learn better and possibly think about things we haven't thought about before.

I'm going to do my introduction now (somebody has finally reconized me and answered one of my questions: THANKS ICoN!!)
I'll post my ideas in there from now on and stop bumping old threads.

I can do a 9 beat sans wraps, although it still doesn't look like much as yet. I find that when I do a seven beat, I'm really not using my wrists much, only the elbows. So, when I do a 9 bt, I just encorporate another twist into my wrists. Honestly, this is accomplished while quite sober.

That meteor move you discovered is pretty groovy, nicely done. I like it how nobody can discover a move without somebody proving it's already been made within five posts.
