Sorry ubbangel

Erm

Right.

My dad's computer picked up some spyware. I happily downloaded Search and Destroy and Adaware, and this got rid of most of the problems.

Unfortunatly, it hasn't done the proper trick. In the system tray, there is a big yellow exclmation mark. Which very so often makes a popping noise and up comes a speech bubble saying:
"System Alert: Adware and Spyware
Your computer performance slowed down. Your internet connection speed had decreased. You recive more spam emails than ever. Use spyware scan to find out the reason"

Obviously not an official microsoft warning. I'm thinking its a false advert for a spyware removal tool that makes things worse... or maybe its just bogus.

Either way its annoying.

Not only does this exclamation mark make popping noises every 60 secs and tells me stuff that isn't really true, it has also changed my homepage to https://www.needupdate.com/
Even when I change it in "Internet Options" it keeps going to this site.

Tried all of them.

Nothing.

So I started a new thread. Hence the apology.

S'all fixed now though... no more popping exclamation marks... biggrin

Figuring out how to fix it...

Which I eventually did.... after a few hours of swearing loudly at the screen.

Lots of nasty spyware had been put onto my computer

But yeah... obviously this thread is quite useless...

*sigh*

Guess I should go ask a mod to delete it or sumink...

And what was causing it?

Oh, oh, oh and oh; did you only download search and destroy and adaware, or did you get all the other programs too? (Microsoft Anti Spyware, Grisoft Anti virus, SpyBot etc)

Im suprised if you downloaded all of them and none of them worked.... umm

Right..

erm...

I discovered that this was a bogus spyware thingy.

So, remembering some advice I hear from someone on here, I did a search on google, on "Spyaxe removal".

Lo and behold, up came a nice site with instructions ( https://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=78572
) which I followed.

Sorted.

Better? smile

Just thought it would help explaining it if someone else ever has the same problem.

Did you know that if you want to ""uninstall" this all removal software its sometime very difficult? Im pointing that after a
while you find removing warez very boring and than its right
time for firewall.
