Posted:so, i just ordered a pair of fire pois.
I`ve tried poi only a couple of times so I havn`t really practised with `em.
My question is what should i learn first, whats the basic steps of poi-ing?

thank you in advance!

Posted:learn to spin socks first, probably the best thing is not to learn with fire poi - becuase they hurt and they smell, and if you set them on fire they burn you. look at the free lessosn on here, learn all that stuff, then go play with fire smile good luck smile

Posted:I recomend learning the butterflys first with either sock or tailed poi. Dont let these fools tell you tails are bad and they get in the way, tho dont if you learn to spin with them first biggrin, tail tails tails lol

I also recomend not worring about learning moves, basicly get used to spinning and try different things when your comfortable.

My only advice for a beginner is to spin every day for about an hour and to build things up slowly

I'm looking for people in my area to learn poi with, so if you're in the keilor/taylors lakes/sydenham kinda area of Australia, gimme a buzz on MSN.

Posted:Really, if I were U, I would practice with the fire pois and not spend any more money on [censored].

Ive used my fire pois since day one and learnt with them. Ive been doing poi for 4 months. I set them on fire like 1 month ago for the first time, and ok I agree that now I cannot practice with them without getting all shitty. So I had to order a new pair to practice with. BUT, now after so long time, I know what to buy and not to buy. So Id use the fire pois until they get burnt and need to be replaced because they are good in my opinion.

Sure they hurt a bit, but not as much as tennis balls (Which some use).

U can use the tutorials that were posted here before or use the ones on the HOP Website- they are more than enough for u to start with. And make them in that order. They are all important to know in the end anyways.

I will also need a new pair for practising, what would you guys suggest? I`d rather buy non-fire poi for practising.
