Does anyone else find this program incredibly intriguing, but also incredibly unnerving? I love looking at all these cool place around the world, even re-visiting beaches etc and places i've been travelling, but it definitely gives me a sense of voyeurism, something i'm not too sure i'm happy about.

I'm quite glad that where I live isn't covered by it, there's just something not quite right here...

Of course for a thread with interesting places to look at go [Old link] wink

the pic over my house also has me parked at home. however most of the area around me isn't updated. several buildings and what not have been built. On google earth all ya see is just a bunch of dirt. so the images gotta be at LEAST a year old around me.

I don't find it voyeuristic. No more than driving through a neighborhood to have a look around. And the drive gives you much better resolution...

I had a plan that we could set up a set of placemarks of all the poi meets around the world.

I couldn't be bothered however...

Quite...

there's the Google Earth BBS where you can upload placemarks to, but i think you have to pay to be able to upload the markers.

But it would be cool - visiting a country - see who spins where smile

yeah - but ideally you'd want to group them all under one "family" of things - otherwise you'd get 100's of seperate places marked...

how about getting people to post co-ordinates in the 'meet others' and events section: type in the co-ordinates, a few visual directions maybe....?

You Burners out there...

Find Gerlach, NV.

Google Earth caught BRC in the throes of setting up for this year! biggrin

Now, most of Nevada is a blur...and yet BRC is sharp and clear.

Think there might be a Burner here and there at Google? (in fact, the founders are Burners...and, I might add, Stanford grads)
