On a technicality - it's not a form of liquid dance footwork.

Liquid dance is almost 100% handwork...
Gliding is possibly boogaloo, but I tihnk it's origins are in popping, waving and botting smile

Definitely not liquid though - they just go well together smile

yeah yeah yeah, people need to understand the thread title, not get confused by a technicality. When I talk about linux, you don't here me say Debian Sarge Stable with Contribs, 2.6 kernel, you just hear me say linux.

At least you didn't call it Moonwalking wink (But you could call it "True Moonwalking" smile )

But as the multiple threads on here testify, semantics and definitions are important to avoid confusion - especially with regards to families of moves (You probably don't realise this though as a staffer - where it's either "Spinning fast" or "Contact" wink )

Liquid is pure hand work - QED, Panorama and Horizons

Gliding is pure foot work.

Now change it to something correct, and spell my name correctly damnit tongue wink

yes, but if I'd put ill dills gliding tutorial, people would be like: Gliding in aeroplanes? What's that got to do with spinning?

So call it "ill Dill's Gliding tutorial (Moonwalking)" and then point out the fact that MJ's Moonwalk isn't a proper moonwalk, it's a sloppy back-glide smile

Yea Durbs, it would piss me off too.

Megan tends to be really loose* when it comes to historical accuracy on names.
Not to worry that gliding predates liquid by 20 years
(for "loose" read "tragically innacurate")

Mind you Paul, there is a way to get your own back...
Isn't that right Megan tongue ubblol

Whatever, I wouldn't have even called it liquid, I would have called it part of b-boying, but I thought people would be more likely to understand if I labelled it as part of liquid.

I mean really, some people think b-boying came from capoeira... How more wrong can you get?

If I could b-boy you wouldn't see me on here... You'd see one clip of me spinning a staff with my legs while doing air-tracks / air-flairs. And another of me spinning a staff with my hands while doing breaker mills. That would be it.

Gliding is cool in contact juggling, but for poi, I prefer rollerskates

They're actualy faily similar.

Callius, do I know you?

I dont often spin poi on my skates in public because they're not made for outdoors. I really only do it when Im at (really empty) clubs and/or in our practice warehouse. I was going to spin fire on them for the first time at the Black Rock City Roller Disco... But I just plumb forgot smile After I get a new video camera, however, be prepared for some fire on skate action.

I dunno why yall find that vid so funny though... I think its pretty damn sweet. But hey, if you think thats funny check out this battle vid. Its like You Got Served on wheels! biggrin

Oh, and for the record - I dont do the breakdancing bit wink
