Everybody keeps telling me not to panic but I'm bored not panicing.

We're all gonna die!!!

The UK government ordered 14 million doeses of an antiviral drug against avian flu... and strains are already resistant and passing between people.

Besides, my immune system isnt too bad nowadays. I'll live.

The problem with bird flu though is the fact that because it doesn't normally affect our species, we have little or no natural immunity to it, which is why it makes it so deadly to humans.

Live like there is no tomorrow,
dance like nobody is watching
and hula hoop like wiggling will save the world.

If ya want to not worry start eating Kim Chi. It is a Koren fermented cabbage. One of the spices in it helps to prevent Bird Flu. So eat lots O' Kim Chi. The funny thing is I heard about this more than a month ago and very few people picked up the story. You would think if this is so scary any help is good right? Espesally an herbal natural source like a spice.

Oh well media is weird. Who know what they will decide is worth telling us, and what isn't.

Kind of makes me wonder though 'bout the conspiracy therories of the bird flu. I mean if there is an easy herbal remedy, why is it going to be a pandemic? And if it is why not tell as many people about the herbal remedy as you can?

I thought I waz just dreammin'?!!??!!??!! Dis place can't really be real.

I think the spice you refer to is Star Anise, which tastes like the black licorice candy. You can chew the seeds themselves, or use it as an ingredient in cooking. It's one of (the main? not sure, never really looked into it) the ingredients of the Tamiflu product that is being stockpiled to be used in the event of flu outbreak.

Definition of poi- A Hawaiian food made from the tuber of the taro that is cooked, pounded to a paste, and fermented.

RIGHT! That settles it I -have- to go to the shop and buy some licorice to eat, ive been toying with the idea of weather to go to the shop up the road or not, hearing the word licorice has got me a craving for the stuff, perhaps even palmer violets ooh goodie *rubs hands together*

What was I gonna say...oh yeah, I forgot birdflu was ever even a scare until I saw this thread, good ot hear the buzz has calmed down, it was getting to sound like a broken record.

So just because its not in the media means its not happening. Right. umm

There's an AIDs epidemic in Afirca, but thats not on TV. So is that not happening either? confused

Whilst I don't belive that Bird Flu will be as bad as predicted (seeing as the media has blown every other thing out of proportion, just to sell papers etc), I think its a bad idea to ignore it completly.

If the disease mutates (which it most likely will) we're going to have some mighty sick people on our hands. Ignoring it or saying its not going to happen when there is a very high chance that it will just seems a bit silly to me.

I just hope my local KFC doesn't close. They should just give out a free shot with every bucket of chicken purchased. wink
