A friend of mine sent me this riddle and I am stumped:

People say you can tell nothing from my face.
I sound like I am useful in a fire.
I have connections to Royalty
People get undressed around me

If you can help me with the answer to that one, try this one:

"The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place."

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

=0.159154943 miles

i.e. thats a DAMN wide horse, maybe metres is smarter

she fell backwards into the apartment.lolsign

for McAlpine's....there is another way to get the next set of numbers. the first colomn is 1121131...so the first number in the next row is one. the second colomn is 112113....so the second number in the next row is 1. the third colonm is 1121...so the third number is 1. u see the pattern? biggrin

try this one:
Henry joined the police force and his picture was on the front page. everyone thought he would help make the town safer. He worked on many of the toughest cases. he never got a promotion and never got paid for his work on the police force. Why?

Just to put that horse riddle to bed. If we convert to metres for a moment and assume the horse is 1 m wide (yeah, so it's still a pretty wide horse) then the horse has to travel 15.9151 times around a circular track thats 188.5 m in length (inner set of legs) 194.7832 m (outer set of legs). It's based on the ratio of 31 to 30 being 1.0333333 so it works if you change metres to yards (and assume the horse is 1 yard wide) but it would have to travel around the track a few more times (~1.64 more times I suppose).

As for the pet riddle, what about a pet rock?

And that last riddle - could it be wine?

wine sounds very plausible.

What about another situation riddle then:

Dead guy is found hanging by a noose in a room. Before he was found the room was entirely sealed, only one locked door and the windows unable to be opened, with no other person (or animal) sized openings in/out. The room was completely empty of objects - nothing that he could've reached the ceiling to tie the rope from and jump off, but investigations confirmed he had committed suicide and died from hanging/strangulation.

How'd he do it?

I have several large jars of the stuff. I actually like it... a little. And don't tell anyone I admitted to it.

he could have choked himself.
it also says that there was only one locked door meaning that if there was another door, it wasn't locked.

and for the pet....nobody has it yet....keep guessing
here it is again:

i am a pet.
i never eat and i never sleep.
i have no feet and i cannot weep.

A carpet.

You aren't thinking or really existing unless you're willing to risk even your own sanity in the judgment of your existence.

Green peppers, lime pickle and whole-grain mustard = best sandwich filling.

I weaken all men for hours each day.

I show you strange visions while you are away.

I take you by night, by day take you back, none suffer to have me,

but do from my lack.

What am I?

That's quite poor.

Also:

No legs have I to dance,

No lungs have I to breathe,

No life have I to live or die

And yet I do all three.

What am I?

SLEEP sounds more likely for this one, since we suffer from the lack of it. Though there are rumors that dreamless sleep would drive one mad!

I'd say FIRE on both of the two last ones.

(However, "feed me" might be a better way to put it than "give me food" in the last one, since all human foodstuff doesn't burn very well...)

Of course it is a nice habit to add some more as we run out of riddles, so here are some easy and silly ones;

# I am weightless, but you can see me. Put me in a bucket, and I'll make it lighter. What am I?

#If you take two apples from seven apples, how many do you have?

#A woman gave birth to two sons who were born on the same hour of the same day of the same year but were not twins. How is this possible?

#A snail is climbing up a wall. It manages to crawl up the wall 3 meters each day, but at night he must rest and so he slips back down 2 meters. If the wall is 30 meters high, how long will it take the snail to reach the top?
