G'day Groovers,

Hot news off the press is a very late release of tickets into all Melbourne selling
stores. These are Last Record Store, Colling wood; Corner Hotel, Richmond;Alley Tunes,
Hawathorn; and Greville St Records.

Tix were taken to these stores early this morning so if you or your mates were after tix,
try these places.

Because of the unprecedented demand for tix, from around Australia actually, we have had
words with the local council, the local residents, god and the brewery and we can
officially put another batch of tix on the gate.

Official kick off time is 4pm Friday with the gate opening around midday Friday. If you
are travelling from a long way you will get tickets - especially if you tell people their
about how much you love the festy and have driven from Prague to get here...

Great to see so many people at our little vols meeting the other night.. We are looking ok
in the vols dept, and will be able to offer drinks and meals to folk if we need an extra
hand...

So it doesnt get out of control, we require any one who really wants to volunteer to
contact us before the event. It is not gauranteed that every one will get a spot but it is
possible if you really are hard up.. Particualy by arriving early and staying late and
getting right into it...

Again, a reminder about parking and camping. You will allowed to drive to the site and
drop your gear off during daylight hours on the Friday. No cars on the property and
DEFINATELY no cars off the tracks around the site. Please do the right thing here. We have
heard that Parks were willing to issue fines to individual cars if they do indeed break
the parks rules.. Now nobody wants or needs that.

There will be three shuttle buses running between the parking and the site anyway. You way
be told that driving to the site is not ok at any time. If this happens be assured there
is a good reason for it. we do encourage you to walk along the track, and understand if
you would rather catch the bus..

It is very exciting to think that in one weeks time, the tenth FRL will be here..

As a point of interest how many of you getting this email have been to every one?

The band list is up to 80 now. We will also have some Koorie dancing as well as a
cleansing ceremony, a welcome ceremony and a farewell ceremony.. We have some elders from
up nrth coming down as well as our friends from Waradjuri country, Yorta Yorta country and
even further afield.

The weather is looking typically FRL - bloody hot and then bloody cold, so bring the
desert/alpine outfits that cover all climes..

One last thing, please please please when driving through Eldorado, have courtesy and
respect for all, especially the locals. We have to make sure that driving through town is
quiet and safe. This bit is up to you.

So more tickets have been put out there and so a few of you should be able to lose a
little stress...

love ya guts

Frankie R Love

Posted:Well, FRL was the 10th such music festival on Bilyana, a lush bush property that had a swimming gorge, separate creeks, a beautiful bush camping area that incorporates a sacred area that used to be reserved for koori women's ceremonies (apparently the area is shaped like a pregnant woman from the air)

80+ aussie bands split across 3 stages played folk to dub to reggae to ska, gypsy etc. It was largely run by volunteers and retained a very intimate, talkative festival. camping near the creek meant mozzie feeding frenzies.

Musical Highlights were:
Kate Grealy - personal highlight for me, a Wangaratta local with beautiful introspective with spinklings of throughts on asylum seeker rights. i was glad that there were other grealy groupies in the crowd.
Lothlorian - This gypsy ensemble provided an infectiously rokcin atmosphere of fiddletastic choons, had to be pushed into encores at the main stage.
Sam Lohs - A singer from the ace all girl band 'fruit' she was played a very energetic acoustic guitar set that had the whole camp clapping and singing.
Mihi Rangi - A one woman band, she uses a sampler to create soundscapes that her soulfoul voice inhabits beautifully. Her standout track was dedicated to an aboriginal elder that she influenced her at Mythopeia 2004.

Basically half of Melbourne's festival going hippies attended this wonderful gathering and by the end, i think everyone was connected by one level of separation.

also, the fire circle and chai savedmylife!

b*
