Well,

This event won't be till late August: 7 months away. So there is TONS of time. Which is good cos this event is embryonic.. I haven't even approached venues yet. Also, sorry, chaps I have been pretty much off the air the last weeks, due to some personal life stuff. But I will certainly let you know EVERYTHING in good time. Specially now we have a shiny new site to linky with!

PS ROB

That link in the post above is not working for me... just takes me to the HoP forums list....

oooh this is very intriguing news! I'd been planning on using my Burning Man budget to go to the EJC instead this year, but I have a good friend who just moved to Sydney who I'm sure I can convince to make the trip to Brisbane with me, and I'm more interested in visiting Australia than Greece.

I shall keep an eye on this space!

Indeed, late September would be convenient for Oz holidays (though not for Northern Hemisphere ones) But a major reason against it is the clash with [Old link] a terrific HoP community event that happens in South Australia at that time. From a few pages ago:

 Written by: newgabe

This inaugral OzJC will be in Brisbane, probably in late August/early Sept. That way we can finish with giant Fireworks on the River kindly laid on by the City Council! Unfortunately this is not in school holidays... having it in the Sept hols would be a clash with Common Ground. Also in August I will be able to get at least one certain International Superstar Guest Dude to visit our shores ubbrollsmile

Ah, well , seeing the thread is bumped.. I'll give an update...

I am just applying for some funding and doing some other negotiations that would ease entry charges and upgrade the event wonderfully... if they don't come off, we'll have the usual self funded smallish event with it's own form of yumminess...

Also I have heard from a chap in Melbs who is thinking of having an event there in September... at the time I decided not to have it due to being close to CG... so let's not call it a clash, let's call it a circuit!

btw ubblol that our household communicates by posting on HoP wave

Rolling on a hard ,cold , rough concrete floor instead of a hot , hard ,rough one sounds better. Unfortunatly I will probably be far away in NZ or some other part of the world were smooth, soft women abound, and far to frugal and broke to get to Uberoz 2. I havent spun fire for almost 3 months now and it realy sucks because I am too tight to get a fold up fire staff, that said in 2 weeks I am likely to do a huge bonfire and make up some big dangerous fire sticks with bamboo and old rags, and fuel them with something horible like petrol, deisel or used cooking oil if I feel tight, or kero if I get near the shops. I will keep an eye on this thread just in case I am around Brisbane though, and mabey even there non single if Im lucky.

Hi chaps
Indeed, I am making the arrangements for an UberOz to be held 24-26th August in Brisbane. WIth some 'UberAfter' events for people who can stick around...

I hadn't wanted to say too much about it till I was more sure of teachers etc and written to last year's participants to check a few things, including the date.. seeing that it is somewhat close to Common Ground.. but it seems from the feedback that the dates are OK (ish, given that they are not in a school holiday... but then the last on wasn't either...)

So two confirmed teachers are Dave Knox (who will be coming from UK for it. He is teaching at UberParis) and Kyle McLean. I am negotiating with some others... and will put a proper thread up very very soon...
