Last night i was set a challenge, to learn some one handed poi somewhat similar to meteors eek

my friend just came back from the VW Fest and saw a guy doing what he described a one handed weave with the poi handles on one hand!
Can you help, does this exist? if not whats the nearest move to this and how'd u do it?
are there any other one handed poi moves about?

thankx

lol, not exactally what i wanted but thank you,

apparently the move is where u have both the poi properly on one hand the meteor moves tend to be 'free' and interchangeable between hands i'm looking for a fixed one handed move

fair enough.

i'm guessing you know that a one-handed weave with poi is pretty much the same move as a figue 8 with a staff and is almost identical to a figure 8 with a meteor...

if you can do a weave with a stick or a meteor, just attach two poi to one hand instead of holding the stick/meteor and you're should be sorted.

or am i completely miusunderstanding your question...? shrug

learn with a metior first, because its easier to get when the poi are diffreent lengths (the leading one should be shorter) and then work your way up to euqal lengths and one heanded stuff. and metior is cool anyway.

I just got the one handed weave down.. it's tough to get started, but once the poi separate, it's easy enought to keep up. The secret is that it's all in the wrist. If you are swinging your poi as you would a two handed weave, then the will clump together. If you spin using only your wrist, they will 180.

Some moves that come to mind... not that I'm very proficient with them:

The 1 handed figure 8 (2bt weave) isn't too bad but the 3 bt. takes a bit more practice and can be mixed with a windmill.

Corkscrews are straight forward and can be combined with spirals.

There are tons of things you can do with the butterfly (leg\arm wraps, over the shoulder, stall tap to weave...).

the one handed weave is pretty tricky since you can do a 4bt reverse ifd you lead with the normal side poi... but the 4bt forward kicks my butt since you have to lead with the bottom held poi..
