It's easier if you just learn an 11 beat reverse and then take two of the beats out.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

I suggest video taping it.... then playing it backwards. voila. reverse 9

I'll get there too late if I shorten my stride, I'll get there too soon if I find me a ride, I'll never move forward if I try to hide this path that I've troden one step at a time.

Isnt the 9 beat weave reverse one of those unnatural boby movements?

One way to build up to it:

Put you left poi in your right hand, and your
right poi in your left. Then perform the 9 beat
weave forwards, but btb - this may take some
practice. Finally, look over your shoulder..

It's not as crazy as it sounds. The difficult bit is
remembering which is which. confused

When both poi are in one hand is the worst. But you
can use the trick of putting one down first before
the swap. This makes it a little easier.

Wheres the best place to put the poi down?
Your shoulder or simply on the floor? Could I even use a friend to hold it? umm

I've tried this and more often than not the
'friend' insists on handing the poi back to
the wrong hand! rolleyes

It can be a bit of a nightmare. Best to pick
a place you wont forget (the shoulder is an
excellent suggestion*) and stick to it.

Good luck!

* if the poi should fall from the shoulder,
you can pretend you were using the 'floor
placing' technique all along, and claim a
bit of style!

I tried the shoulder holder technique, but then the poi freaked out and scratched the hell outta my face. Then I realized that cats don't make good poi. Now I use disposable friends to hold my chinchilla poi. Works like a charm.

That's seriously good advice there.

Along similar lines, to work moves out backwards i find it always helps to perform it forwards, then reverse both poi with the stall and 'rewind' my movements.

what me? I know nothing of a 9beat.. I've never even heard of a 7bt weave... who told you these lies? spank ubblol

as far as reversing things... I've always found that turning helped me as well as doing the twist with me facing wallplane.. because the twist is the same, its the direction you turn with it that is different..
