What does make me to give = what makes me want to give

Sorry for correcting (what I think you are trying to say) you there Richee, it takes me a while to understand what you are trying to say sometimes and this is a good question.

I think its to do withthe love of poi as well.

I have gained so much through spinning, that I want others to get what I got from it.

I think if you are talking in regards to teaching, then you dont expect to get taught, but it is something that is hoped for. Often, if you teach a new person basic moves, you will be taught some more advanced moves by another great spinner.

I also think I learn quicker playing on my own than by being taught things by people. Getting taught things by Bluecat and Flaming Deity at Falmouth4 particularly spring to mind as examples of me being a shite student ubblol

and because I learn quicker on my own, I dont mind teaching people things at all. Im just an awful teacher biggrin

I think Hafiz would say love,
and the Pope would say hope.

Different view, and correcting is a powerful word. Are we offtopic in the Poi moves section?!? No ! biggrin

To learn - read. To know - write. To master - teach . . .

There's also a sort of community rhythm that can happen as knowledge is spread around. This is true for other things as well as poi. As the community rhythm grows, the general collective concious can be inspiring.

er.. maybe i'm just blabberin..

smile

Definition of poi- A Hawaiian food made from the tuber of the taro that is cooked, pounded to a paste, and fermented.

Ahnold discussing poi - "It is naht a toober!"

maybe I seem a bit selfish.. but I give.. because I want to get.. the more I give.. the more likely I'll get something back.. not because of some obligation, but because someone can take what I gave and give me back something new.. I wanna see how far the rabbit hole goes..

found this favorite bit of a poem in another thread entirely, and invited it over here...
"
Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, "you owe me". Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole sky."

Hafiz, or maybe rumi?

"God *was* my co-pilot, but then we crashed, and I had to eat him..."

All I want when I perform for other people is a smile and a thank you, anything else is a bonus. As for teaching a friend of mine (Demon) put it the best;

"When a child looks at something new it thinks 'cool, what is that?, what does it do? and how is it done?' If I can for one moment do that to someone who has grown beyond that stage of wide eyed wonder and then tell them that they can do it too then I feel like I'm genuinely giving something back"

That's easy Richee,,,there's no Latin wink

He's just wondering what facet of his character causes him to love teaching poi, while expecting nothing in return,,he's thinking it's love,,, and poi spinning is a movement representing love.

I see where he's coming from, but I'm a little simpler.

I teach to grow the art.

Yay for haiku's...

The joy of teaching,
makes all that they do shine bright
and you shine brighter

Love as a way into union. Union with poi, with the person I'm sharing the moment, union with me, the moment!

discover the slowness, it's so powerful!

Definitely Love!!! ubblove
