Hi All U Groovy Spinners out there in e-land,

Announcing a series of mini-one-day juggling and spinning conventions throughout the Autumn in Nottingham.

The first one (9th Oct) is going to be a poi and staff spinning special.
With Te-Pooka and special guests from London running a series of master class workshops from begginers to Uber-Spinning Super Advanced.

NAME: TRIBE OF FUN-DANGO (emphasis on having fun).
DATES: 9 Oct, 13 Nov, 11 Dec (all sundays)
TIMES: 11am-11pm
PLACE: Nottingham University Students Union
SPACE: The Beautiful Big Ballroom and 2 workshop rooms - E and W concourse lounge (same place as the one dayer last March).
COST: donations up to £5 - pay what you can afford - be honest (this is to pay for w/shop leaders travel costs)
WORKSHOPS: begginers to advanced and very advanced. Workshop leader volunteers welcome.
AIM: to capture the essence of Bristol Juggling Convention in one long day.
PLAN: Workshops during the day, games and vidoes and music in the evening. Possibly an impromptu show. and many silliness
REQUEST: Please pass details around to any other juggling groups you know who might be interested.

They are called mini-one-dayers because we are only organising:
1) at least 6 workshops based on a theme each time. Other w/shops organised on day.Predict there will at least be 20 in all.
2) video projections and/or music in the evening.
3) some group activities and/or games.

The rest will be organised on the day. So its a bit more relaxed than normal.

Rob:

Tangly Fun
Ways you can make yourself and your poi knot up: for all levels. Includes; how to understand an airwrap; pretending to do something hard; fake knots; and negative space stupidity.

Meg:

Stolen Spinning.

glowsticking moves have also been stolen. There may pop in some cane
manipulation too.

Technical Spinning for Doubles.
Two staffs.
This workshop will teach doubles spinning touching on a lot of basic concepts
like anti-spin, isolations, pendulums, hugs, weave spinning, butterfly
spinning, one beat patterns, manipulation techniques and flowers.

Drew:

Musicality and Movement for Manipulators
For: Poi and Staff or any Prop or no prop
Any level from beginner to expert, this will cook your brain in an
lovely fun way smile

manipulation team battle workshop - 1 hour
followed by a battle at the end of the day

Cole:

Holistic Spinner (I hope)

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, do you have a teeny piece of floor space for me on the saturday and sunday night?

and also could someone post info on how to get from the train station to wherever people are meeting (or wherever people are staying) on the saturday? alternatively, a lift from the station would be very very much appreciated biggrin

Hey Beth

There might just be enough space left to squeeze you in although I think I'd better invest in a crowbar lol.

Don't know about lifts from the station as none of us drive but there is a tram which runs from the station pretty much to my house give or take a couple of hundred metres.

Also I will be happy to come and meet anyone from pretty much anywhere to guide them to their residence for the weekend from 18:00 onwards on Friday night. Just let me know when you're arriving and I will majically turn up next to you biggrin

Hello Poisters,

Peachi here again finally. Been uber-busy writing up my project and arsing about in Bristol Juggling Convention (god that was good) so havn't checked in in a while.

Glad there is a good buzz going on about the Tribe of Fun-dango on sunday (see https://www.nottsjuggling.co.uk/fundango/
)

Thanks to Bluecat (Rob-cheese) for organising such amasing workshops and the Fields of Fire Notts Possee (our fields of fire mind) for organising the beginners and intermadiates).

We got some great videos to show in the evening (juggling, direct action, green awareness stuff) and DJ T0m is going to drop some phat breaks tunes.... possibly some psy trance if you ask nicely.

We got room at ours for people to stay but already half full.

You dont have to book ahead just pay as close to £5 on the door as you can afford.

Can't wait. See ya all Saturday / Sunday,

Drews Workshop Details:
I ran both of these at Uberpoi, so if you want details, ask a friend who was there smile

Introduction to Musicality
Aimed at poi or staff, but can be with any Prop
For any level, especially beginners and super geeky tech heads who like to stand on one spot and so difficult tricks.
1.5 - 2 hours
Covers:
How to add a connection to music to your spinning
and how to understand music aimed at non musicians. In a way that will totally help your spinning.
You need this workshop smile

Poi/Staff/Manipulation Battle Workshop:
we had 50 poiple doing this at ueberpoi, and it was A LOT of fun (look at the pictures of uberpoi!!)
Everybody from beginners up to the teachers. You don't need talent, complete beginners are brilliant, you need that ability to be silly.
A bit like a friendly team breakdance battle/jam, with extra silly fun.
friendly ok: https://community.webshots.com/photo/401080213/401096775fEeLzl
This is to help us Brits get over that feeling that a lot of us have... That are a bit tooo shy about SHOWING our stuff. This is about learning performance skills and getting over that feeling of being nervous.
(The workshop has no spectators.)

Thats all....See ya sunday :hugs:

RIGHT THEN

there are a few logistical issues that need to be adressed.
1 crash space....not a problem really, as the whole FieldsofFire massive (well medium really) will be there and are all friendly we can organise muchos crash space
2 peeps turning up to join our thursday meet, have an impomptu friday and or saturday meet should be aware that goose fair is on NOW and will be in full swing over those days.
this means a new place will have to be found in order to spin fire or anything at all as the entire fields where we meet will be full of under-age drinkers, chavs, people wanting to have a go with fire who may not be told NO.
oh and an ENOURMOUS fun fair
soooooooooooooooooooo
thinking needs doing.
as it is i will be turning up and well G is the driving force behind things at the moment so if you need info contact him.

my original signature was tooo long.
this one is shorter

I believe we arranged something like the Graveyard....I don't reckon everyone is gonna be able to find it.

However, I've got a large grass and concrete area outside my house which we can fill with a load of peeps. Plus my house would be available for music and toliets and general seatage!

But ultimately I think G has been left in control ( Yay for G smile )

p.s G how did it go the other night? Did you make it?

Hey Mech, look on page 4 for more info on workshops scheduled over Sunday.

Smit, we had been thinking about a repeat of last week (which was sweet) but like you say 'tis a bit dodgy especially seeing as how there will be an infinately larger police presence on Thursday.

Chumpy, what is this area of which you speak? Are we talking back garden type stuff or is there somewhere else and is it secluded/out of sight ish.

Dub, kick off will all depend on whenever we can be arsed to actually get out of the house on Saturday after Friday night excursions (whatever they might be). Fire has been kicking off at around 8-8.30ish (no change there then) of late but having not decided where we're going to hold it this is subject to change.

Putting me in charge eh.....hmm could be dangerous!

I'm awfully sorry Auntie Lynne redface
Your space is still reserved in fact you were the first one to book at Chez Chez (I will explain later for those who haven't already realised) Pink will be turning up at 18:05 so 18:04 will be fine although we may have to meet Pink after I've grabbed you but that all depends on which service is more reliable on Friday smile

Either way I will be collecting you both straight after work so you're not allowed to laugh at my office wear ubblol
The tram will glide* us back to my house (well almost) so don't worry, you won't have to do much walking. May be helpful if you can have some change on you though. A single will cost £1.20 or an all day ticket (useful if we decide to come back in later for stuff) will cost £2.20.
I should be able to let you know which will be most relative at the time.

hugs
G.
