Greetings-
This is a similar thread to the msn contacts thread, only for the voice over internet program Skype (www.skype.com).
If you have a michrophone and speakers, you can talk for free to anyone using the Skype software. I use it to keep in touch with my girlfriend and dad in the US and its brilliant.

I have this too, but I just use it to talk to my bf in Germany. Also I've been having troubles with working microphones. (As in, they haven't been working).

Blimey things move waaaay too fast in here- I guess this is symptomatic of all the probs that we've had in chat recently- a potentially useful thread is buried in hours- *sigh*

Is this not the exactly the same as voice convesations over MSN?

Yes, BUT
The quality is far superior to those in MSN, plus it has options that may be useful to members wishing to make calls internationslly to land lines (there are payable options which are also extremely good, for example 2 cents per mintue anyway where in the world.) These do not affect the free services. Plus the MSN voice stuff is tempremental, and doesn't have automatic noise cancelling so its much more prone to distortion and feedback.

I'm glad a few poiple have seen this and are haveing a a go-I'm not on commission or anything
Its just a great piece of software that would benefit an awful lot of poiple if they tried it.Maybe a mod would be kind enough to put this in social discussion where it won't get flattened by lots of less 'useful' information?

We added Skype as an option for people to contact Home of Poi over a month ago.
Skype id - homeofpoi or you'll see the link in the "Contact Us" section.
You'll also see there some "local" Phone numbers for UK, USA, and Australia - these actually route through Skype also.
