ok, my fridge is playing up and everything seems to be going off too quickly..

the fridge has a dial with the numbers 1 to 5 on it

to make it colder do i
a) put it on a low setting for a low temperature?
OR
b) put it on a high setting to increase the work done by the fridge thus making it cooler?

I thought it was a stupid question but everyone i ask just goes 'huh i dunno'

I would like to sort this out before i go to falmouth so i don't come home to a manky warm fridge!!

try it and see

if the lettuce goes crispy its colder if the beers warmer etc..

Numbers vary in so many different untensils, like nuts on car wheels

some go the other way which makes it hard

Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

my flat mate is a fridge tech- it could be low on gas or iced up to much or the seal could be gone -

got similar problem with the chestfreezer but in reverse, its too high.

Soft scoop icecream isn't soft, so I was thinking hmmmm!

Our fridge is always up too high too.

We went away for ten days while we had decoraters doing the kitchen, amazingly they didn't touch my huge bar of dairy milk with crunchy bits that was in the fridge!

(if we turned ours off there'd be a puddle as the icebox is errr... iced up!)

They also left behind a packet of choccie biccies, some filler, pliers and loads of snap off blade thingies. Nice going seeing as they knew we had a 5 yr old and a 3month old!

Ok now i'm having a rant.

If you have a frost free fridge and set it too cold it will switch itself off...thats what happened to mine, It stopped itself frosting by increasing the temp.

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

mines not frost free. Wish it was!

My boyfriend can't cook whatsoever so i've left him with lots of food that he just has to heat up whilst i'm away. I hope its cold enough in the fridge or i'll be coming home to food-poisoned-man! ubblol

A higher number should mean a colder fridge. Mine's just been moved from 2 to 2.5 after the milk turned into icky sludge.

My last fridge/freezer was a bonkers creation - the lightbulb blew, and the whole thing turned itself off. Replaced the lightbulb, and the stuff lost from the freezer due to rapid defrosting. Then the lightbulb went again and everything defrosted.

After a couple of new lightbulbs, it was still going wrong so I gave in and bought a new fridge/freezer!
