A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Posted:I reckon it's not a huge amount. Prolly abt 3/400 per hour, and lighter people will use less still.

but.. if you spin in the morning, chances are you'll have a higher metabolism for the rest of the day, so you'll carry on burning extra calories without realising it too.

Posted:It depends entirely on spinning style and poi style I think.

Someone spinning slowly with light poi and practising their airwraps while standing still are going to be burning very few calories compared to someone spinning faster with heavy poi while dancing around.
There are far too many variables to give any concrete answer I reckon.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I can spin with my training poi for hours and feel nothing, but when I use my fir poi or glow poi, I use so much more energy. I also like to dance/move about so I usually find my poi to be quite a good work out!

Posted:What if your spinning horizontally? I imagine that because you have to apply more pressure to keep the poi horizontal ( opposed to spinning vertically and doing half the work while gravity does the rest)you'd be burning more calories... just a thought though. Also spinning on your back or while hanging from something.
