If I want to buy:
Light swivels
Barrel swivels
Quick links
Triangular quick links
And cheap tennis balls, where should I go other than importing stuff via HoP?

I just haven't found anything in such shops. Standard Quick Links you can buy in big brand-name DIY shops, but they're incredibly expensive (it would work out the same price to buy them off HOP including postage half way around the world), so hopefully there's a better place. Thankfully they're easily nicked by virtue of their wonderful easy-open packets. I can't find triangular quick links or any types of swivel anywhere.

If you don't mind going in them, fishing shops will sell swivels, probably quick links (agreed the ones in b&q and homebase are completely overpriced). Personally i got mine from HoP. Independant hardware stores can be absolute gems if you live near one for hobbiest projects.

Hadn't thought of fishing shops, that's a great idea. My mate's dad owns one as well so I may bealbe to secure mates rates. I get stuff from HoP if I'm ordering something else but it seems a little wasteful to order something so small on its own.. I've just discovered that poi poi sell small swivels £2.50 for 10 ( www.poipoi.info ) which seems pretty good.

Thanks for the advice

biggrin I'm bringing the system down from the inside.

Actually, I've only once had the nuts to do it. And then I felt pretty bad about it.

For about a minute, anyway, until I got them fitted and had my 1st burn biggrin

Ok..... well i'm bumping this back up cause i was wondering what people use for their swivels on their fire poi as at the minute i have one swivel next to the grip but want to put one before the wick. So basically i want to know where i can get swivels which aint gonna break when they get hot!!!!

Whatever happened to my green and pleasant land?

depends on the quality of the swivel. I don't know of any that are designed for use with fire poi, or designed for heat. Personally I only use swivels at the top, but I have seen commercially sold poi with them at the bottom. There's no such thing as a uniform swivel, you don't know what could be inside one. It's possible that some use plastic inside to make manufacture easier, in which getting them hot would be bad, or putting too much load on for that matter.

Thats pretty much what i thought, but then i saw some on another website which had them at the bottom, like you said. Was just wondering what other people used.

Why would you want swivels on your fire poi? They're necessary for tailed poi because of the twist effect, but I've never used a swivel on fire poi.

Personally, hyperloops/airwraps

I dont think you need swivels on fire poi either. If you are using ballchain...then then entire chain is one big multi swivelly swivel.

Even if you hyperloop and airwrap yourself to death, at least your chains wont get twisted.

true, but if you're using wire you're stuffed. I turned a pair of wire poi into springs learning hyperloops smile
