So tomorrow I have a big tournament...national level, for my martial arts.
Incase you don't know, I practice Brazillian Jiu Jitsu under affiliate Marcus Soares (big time name in UFC and MMA, like a 7 time world champion etc...).
I've only been training about a month for this tournament, but I've made a big step in what division I'm fighting in.
For those of you who don't know me that well, I'm only 17 (17 and 3 months tomorrow...March 25th is my birthday), and I'm pretty light. I will be fighting in Under 140 lbs Men's division. The age group is 17-35, so I am going to be among the youngest, if not the youngest competitor in my division. Also, because I will be fighting people alot older than me, they will (assumptions made from my personal experiences in previous matches and tournaments as well as just general grappling in the dojo) be much stronger than me, even at the same weight.
I'll be fighting in both the Gi and No-Gi divisions (same weight and division in both), and it's a double elimination tournament, which means I will be fighting anywhere from 4 to about16 fights tomorrow (assuming I take home a gold in both lol).
I originally was going to be fighting in the Men's, Under 140, Intermediate level (1-3 years experience division) as I've been fighting for a year and a half, but that would have been 2 huge jumps both at once, and my trainer and team mates talked me down to fighting in the less than one year division to give me a standing hope of winning at least one of my fights.
In addition to this I have an exam on monday, as well as my girlfriend and brother's prom later that evening -.-
On topic of the girlfriend, yes, we are still together (thankfully) and much of what was wrong was worked out, although I've got a sunburn from trying to find her yesterday (about 75% of my body is nice and red lol, gonna make for some painfull Gi matches).
Anyone know something that will temporarily releave sunburn pain ^.^'

Sparkey, worse case scenario is I break a limb or something and can't fight the rest of the day.
Anyways, I'm gonna go meditate for an hour to clear my mind, then go to sleep, I was out doing back flips all day today and I think I'm way to tired ^,^'

Hey Gram,

Good luck at the tournament. You know that no matter what happens there... you've already won. You're doing what the majority of people never do. You're going out there with honour and no ego to try your best. Learn from the experience!

Cheers!

p.s. You'll probably still be nervous years from now when you're competing in Abu Dhabi. biggrin

Anyways, thanks for the compliments, and Abu Dhabis eh? lol I wish :P We'll see how this goes, I've got a long way to go before that :P
I'm actually thinking about looking for a cage fight to make my debut :P Sometime next year in mid-late april would be best, just turn 18 and what a way to celebrate!

Hey again everyone, I'm back from the tournament...it was ok I guess... I won my first fight by points 6-2 and almost had two submitions (Triangle choke and rear naked choke). In the semi finals all of...20 seconds in, I took a pretty nasty throw and landed on my shoulder. I had defended the throw as well as it could have been really (or so my corner man told me, I don't remember...) but the guy was good (he went on to win the division) and managed to get under me and give me a good throw. So my entire left arm started to hurt, so I tried to fight for all of 4-5 seconds before it was too much and I had to submit and withdraw from the fight. I then could not stand up with out intense amounts of pain. So After a while of the med people talking to me, I managed to get up, and then to the hospital for Xrays. I found out I broke my collar bone...-.- Clear break. So now I've got 5-6 weeks of absolutely no physical activity and I have to keep my arm in a sling (although in the typing of this I've discovered a way to type with it in the sling, and still use both hands). anyways, sorry to dissapoint you all, I'll try and do better next time ^.^'
Pictures will be in my photobucket soon and I'll try and put 1-2 up on HoP, I'll post with links when they're up.

I learned alot from both (naturally, I'd hate to come out learning nothing lol).
From my win I learned that persistence wins over strength
From my loss I learned that there is no limit to how far you should base down to avoid being thrown, and I revisted a previously learned lesson of Broken Bones Suck.

It's more frustrating than anything right now, the pain doesn't bother me that much...I just can't do anything anymore. I can't run, lift weights, ump baseball, play rugby, do any martial arts, or even do any spinning or jugglind! That is my next 6 weeks cleared of everything I had planed to do...

And thanks for all the hugs eveyone biggrin

EDIT: changed 6 months to 6 weeks, I wasn't thinking straight when I wrote it the first time.

Gentle hug2. I saw this post today and I have to say I'm relieved I saw it *after* it's all over because I would have been biting my nails over it all day.

Broken collarbones suck. I'm so sorry. *gives you a foot massage*

And SIX MONTHS? I'm not so sure about that. 6 weeks I can buy, but then I'd say you need to resume (gently) so that you don't lose all your conditioning.

Oh, and Tylenol (paracetamol) helps sunburn pain.

AH! my bad Dr, you're right, it was 6 weeks, I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote 6 months :O I think I'd kill my self if I could not do anything for 6 months -.-
*goes back to correct it*
And I plan to be back and training the second my new Dr (the one at the fracture clinic) tells me I can. Apparently he did wonders for my mom's knee so I'm in good hands...
biggrin And thanks for the hugs and foot massages ^.^'

I like that suit biggrin
Funny thing... my entire outfit was made in italy. When ever I go clothes shopping, I have always tried on everything, and choose which was more comfortable before I so much look at price. The suit was the most expensive one they had in my size ^.^' It was made and imported from Italy. The shoes are a few years old, but I use them regularly...you'd not believe how hard it is to polish shoes with 1 hand -.-' The tie and undeshirt were bought with the suit and were also Italian made. The belt was a Christmas present a year and a half ago from my grandfather ^.^' (It's sad I know the history of every item I own).

And thanks Lightning. I'm not sure if I've seen you in a suit and tie before, but I"m sure you'd look hansome in one too smile
