Hey guys and gals....

I've got some pics from the irish invasion i want to post up in the thread. I've seen people upload pics that show up in threads - but I have no idea how to do it.

The pics are on my PC, not web (if that makes a difference)

Any help would be great!

You'll need to put them on the web somehow. I think you are able to add it to your gallery and link from there or you can use a free hosting service like flickr (https://www.flickr.com/).

To post pics in a thread they need to be up on the net. You can't link pictures from the hop gallery to the threads though so you will need to find another place to host them. Once they are up on line its very easy to post them into a thread. Go into the full reply mode on the thread you want to post them in and for each picture press the "image" button in the "instant UBB code" box and paste the web address for the photo, into the box that pops up. Then you press "ok" and its done.

If that doesn't make any sense say and I'll try to make more sense later...... sleepy me needs to go to bed.

If you don't know how to find the web address of your photo, right click on it, and go down to "properties." It should be obvious from there what to use.

1) You need to have the image somewhere on the net. If you don't have a site somewhere, places like photobucket do the job well.

2) Use the [ image ] tags in the reply bit. there is a button to do it for you if you use the old reply method, if not then type '[image ]https://wherethepictureis[/image ]' without the ''s or the spaces.

3) It doesnt work if you use a picture from the gallery.

4)'[image**]https://www.homeofpoi.com/templates/nav_images/homeofpoi_logo.gif[/image]'
without the stars or 's gives me
homeofpoi_logo

5) If you go to the picture on the website, then copy and paste the address from there, you're pretty much guaranteed to have it work. i find that's a lot less prone to mistakes than going to the properties. you'll find the best way for you, though.

I think its to do with where your linking the picture from Hels - as this is an online album it may not allow external links to its pictures because of the way its setup - external refereancing is restricted ................ i think cool

it needs to have the photo name and extension (most likely .jpg) on it.

tinyurl doesn't work, but my method does. When you include an image the board will try and load it to check it's valid. If it see's an http redirect then it will disallow it. My script doesn't do a redirect when requested first, but then after when people view it it will. It also gets around the fact that it's a script because it ends in .jpg (even though it actually ends in php, then has a # after, the board's code parses it wrong).

Now, I could make a little script to let people post pictures from their gallery into threads (ie include images by using https://tmp.offline.org.uk/
of photo>/confusion.php#rah.jpg), but assuming it's been disabled by malcolm for a reason, I think i may be at risk or getting into trouble..... smile

incidently, I have a pair of orange jupiter trousers like those in the photo wink

sorry smile

was just seeing if i could find a way to use pictures on here that are hosted in the hop picture gallery, and i did. If you take a look at the url you'll see it's one on my server, but when the browser requests that url it will actually redirect it to hop, my server doesn't hold a copy of the photo at all. Now the concept is proven I could change the script so that anyone wanting to do the same could just use a url like the one i suggested, and it would be all taken care for automatically

I then went onto to say that I won't, because i'll probably get into trouble. I'll happily explain more to malcolm, dom or whoever else is incharge of the board's code so they can fix the exploit.
