OK, pesky winter is gone and so is my excuse for not picking up poi in months. So now it's time to dust off my box of poi moves and go out and get some more. I figure if I publicly write down my goals for the next two months, I might have a better chance of actually getting them met.

My poi goals for the summer are:

Become a Freehanding Newbie

Gumbys/Catchcombos with Fire

Learn Flowers and How to Turn Them

Learn Split Time Glowstick Wraps

Freehanding with Fire

BTB fountain or a Waistwrap

I'll be happy to get 4/6 of them.

And I say this all the time and fail, but I want to get some logic and presentation to my spins. They need a beginning, middle and and end. Maybe uberpoi will save me. frown

... And don't get killed by a fire plate or hoop. But that's not poi and more of a life goal. wink

What are your poi goals for this summer?

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Ill try not to forget my staff, ooooops

keep improving my poiing,

e.g. wanna get more clear and precise and slow-mo like in my playing, integrate my body so that you wont notice a clear separation between my body and my poi, they get one and my body should just be some kind of extension of the poi!!!

wanna expand my usage of isolations, learn more variations! wink

...and finally to throw my poi - I should get more safe, but it already works!

new moves I always wanna learn, but I should start getting more precise with the moves I already know! biggrin

thats it for now!

10 catches of 5 clubs, 534 with clubs, 3 club backcrosses.
offset 2bt weaves - everywhere
backwards things
keeping my feet on the floor ( wink )
atomics may spark an interest at uberpoi but we shall have to wait and see
and if double-ended nets work out, i might start looking at throws...

all goals are subject to change without notice wink

no, no, 3 of them.
mostly everywhere (no btb or ww positions).
can do most airwrap stuff backwards and some inversions and flowers but not as many as i'd like.
yep smile
understand and can spin some atomics now thanks to arashi's 3am tequila-fuelled crash course, but i have not invested any time in them since frown
i looked at some throws but didn't really learn many - turns out that double ended nets are good for more than just throws though biggrin

targets did change drastically - so much so that most of my study and practice time has been spent on a completely new set of props for me so neither poi or juggling progressed massively this year.

i also learnt to write and give workshops.
whcih was nice smile

Well I seemed to miss this thread entirely.

Well this year i got back into poi after a brief affair with a cheeky pair of twins, diabolo's that is.

Remarkably my diabolo spinning seems to have stopped as quickly as it began, but i'm happy with what i learnt in a year.

Uberpoi suceeded in totally getting me back into poi again (nice one mr. blue)

So this summer i've mostly been playing with inversions (cheers rev)

Tidying up my tangles (oli-ing like a pro thanks to the man himself)

Wibbling like a master fishmonger, started on 3 but seems a little excessive, olive's 3 staff juggling has been very inspirational

Hung out with all my favourite people

met arashi and finally get what he's talking about

Worked like a biatch, then Quit my job smile , rented out my flat smile, split up with my lady frown and am heading for The sunny Aotearoan Islands.

So i'd say i've achieved enough. It's been a very hard year tho, think i'm gonna make sure 2006 is more relaxing.

As for my 2005 poi goals, I want to work out what an antispin thread the needle actually is, it's doing my head in at the moment.
I've got alot more non-poi goals - being able to juggle burke's barrage is the main one at the moment, but there's now diabolo stuff in my List o' Things To Learn™

Hmm, still havn't got the antispin thread the needle sorted properly, I've got very bored with antispin in general really.
I've not done a great deal of diabolo either, although now I can whipcatch semi-reliably
On the plus side, I got burke's barrage mere days after making my earlier post, my juggling seems to suddenly getting better, after many moons of doing nothing smile
I've picked up my swinging clubs alot over the summer, so I've got better at them too. Full head wraps (like a waist wrap but around your head) and plenty of snakes still elude me though.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

cleaning up reverse antispin flowers (poi reverse, arms forwards)

tightening up isolated buzzsaw & weave

cleaning up split-direction buzzsaw flowers & same direction buzzsaw fountains

long-arm circle spinning thing (don't know the name of this move--arms are 180 apart, you're spinning your body & not the poi)

it's all about refining this summer -- i've made a conscious decision not to learn new moves till after Burning Man.

check, check, check & check! although my isolated weave is still kinda crappy, looks clean when i don't really do a weave. i think you call what i'm doing a fakey? i don't know that's what someone once told me i was doing.

and for the record, the long-arm windmill pirouette didn't come together for me till just a few weeks ago, so the goal was met, but not during the summer.

taken out of context i must seem so strange
