And yeah, my real name is mis-spelled all the time. But in truth, my first name is an uncommon spelling and my last is just damn hard.

For some reason people love putting an e on the end of my last name, which i dont understand, i've never meet, or found someone that spells it that way, and i've looked.

My first name can be terminated with y, ie, e or i. I can generally tell who'se writing by the spelling they use.
Did your department not send you a letter beforehand saying "this is exactly what we're putting on your diploma, is it all right?". If it's anything like the place I slaved in for 4 years the diploma is automatically generated from the university database so it should have been the same as what they've been calling you for 4 years.
There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

It's only 6 letters each name, but they just can't be bothered... they even got it wrong in 3 (!) places when referring me from my GP to the physiotherapy
