personally i think its but ugly and looks completely rushed the whole horrible cut off point where the disk loading drive bit is very poorly designed....generally horrible
and lookat the but ugly controller ......YUCK
i do like the way they;'ve wacked in the mac style disk drive though

i think the controller is abit on the extreme side, like the console, but if its campitable with the old controllers i wont be changing, i like the ones i got already...i dont like change, makes u feel old.

It took a while, but once their numbers dropped from 50 down to 8, the other dwarves started to suspect Hungry.

i dunno....i think the new design is quite elegant. will have to reserve judgment on the controllers till i actually have one in my hands, but it looks a bit more ergonomically "correct." the old/current controllers always felt too small to me.

The PS 3 design is the best yet, but I think the games market is too obsesed with looks and flashy bits. Give me a Nintendo Entertainment System anyday - the games were so good I never looked at the hardware!
The wireless controlers are nice though - I hope they have a dock or something to charge from.

hmmm, the ps3 chipset technology is more powerful than most decently priced personal computers today. So we're talking thousands of dollars of gaming technology all for $400ish when it comes out.

i'm a great fan of consumer equipment which isn't ugly/a design statement in the living room. Considering a large target audience is adults not children's bedrooms it's about time they made something that looks like standard hifi equipment and fits on standard hifi equipment shelves. Sony were debating over making a version of the ps2 that looks like a regular dvd player a few years ago, but it's never happened. My home theatre PC is incredibly boring to look at, but it doesn't look out of place next to a cinema amp, vcr, cd player etc. Maybe i'm just old and sad, but gimicks don't do it for me

the new xbox looks alot better than the old one aswell, they;ve shaped it more instead of it being box like......i know its called xBOX but it still shouldnt have looked that ugle as their first console

xbox360, this winter quater, in time for xmas.
ps3, bout a year-ish, but the graphics/hardware on ps3 smacks xbox - microsoft went for functionability through Live and tivo.
They will probably open at $300-400ish and then drop, maybe cheaper for xbox as it has lesser hardware.

that's a bit of an overgeneralisation isn't it? my HTPC's brushed aluminium and looks like a normal cinema amp (same dimensions). There's thousands of PC cases out there, my company sells from very sexy little aluninium ones that are just a little bigger than a cd drive.
