Yep, I'm in a country town in romania. living with a host family who dont speak english. 2 weeks left of school. 3 weeks left of my visa.

and i have mumps.

yep.

mumps.

this is so not cool on so many levels.

in fact, its really quite scary being sick and away from home.

and sucky being house bound.

no friends.
no boyfriend.
no speaking english.
no solid foods.

actually, someone explain to me how i have a virus that i have alreayd been immunised against?

damn being a teacher. you get the viruses of the students. however, that isnt all that bad. one of my students who aso has i invited me to his place to use the internet, s at leats i have someone to speak english to!

so this is my litle bitch.

at least i didn't have it on my birthday!

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

The existance of flamethrowers says that someone, somewhere, at sometime said "I need to set that thing on fire, but it's too far away."

Aww take care Rouge... I know it's horrible being sick when you're far from home, but you'll be better soon and everything will feel good again - then you'll have a great story to tell about the time when you were 'dying' a million miles from home biggrin

hug

I don't think they usually give a booster for mumps, but don't quote me on that. Some people loose their immunization after a while, nobody knows why. It's really a bummer.

I'm 19 as of saturday.
i was looking on the internet, and it says you get your booster at no later than 11 or 12 years old...and i got mine then, i remember for sure cos it was when i was in grade 6, before i went to New Zealand!
well, my immunization might have died, but after this wonderful little episode, i can hopefully say i wont get it again!

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

yeah
basically what happened was when they introduced the MMR they thought it'd be one injection, wham, bam, protected. they were wrong. we (19yos) were the last year that didnt get the booster before we went to school + we didnt have natural protection because most of us hadnt been exposed to it.
hence the issues with mumps at uni last autumn.

If I remember correctly MMR injection doesn't give full immunity, just means that you aren't as horrendously ill as you would have been had you not had the vaccine.

I remember mumps, very unpleasant. Sympathy hugs

That would make sense, kat! Because 2 weeks in bed? I laugh in the face of 2 weeks in bed! it takes more than mumps to keep an aussie down! (are we hardcore or are we idiots? someone tell me!) 4 days later i had the 8th grade graduation (3am), next day i had the 12th grade prom (4am and unintentionally started a fight when a guy was scaring me so my friend dragged him off me and a fight started that ended the prom!) and since then i have been out of the town as usual.

yes, i was probably being an idiot. but how many times do i live?

needless to say i haven't been feeeling sick since day 2.

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey
