I've had/have this problem

I always thought it was because i use multiple logins. Like when i go home, alot of the threads i've already viewed and posted in while at work are marked as having new posts in when in fact they dont.

Deleting all cookies and temp files and stuffs seems to help.

I have this problem also and it seems to start happening after I have opened threads with greater than 2000 posts in them or after I have opened a lot of threads.

something that stores a copy of something

a web cache is a thingy which you ask for a webpage, it requests for you then gives back. It keeps a copy so if you or anyone else requests it again, it serves it from itself. That way if you have a cache on a network then once a page has been loaded once when anyone views it again it'll load instantly. Useful for speed and because bandwidth costs money. There's a big push at the moment by the UK government for all schools to have web caches, because it's cheaper than giving them better net connections. A neat thing you can do with them is to get them to preloadd a website over night, that will be stored ready for the following day. Say you're teaching a class where everyone will view a media rich site about the Mary Rose, you can pre load it all over the school's crappy modem connection the night before and everyone can access it like they're on mega expensive broadband

ok either my computer is going crazy (which it proabably is) or HoP is being wierd. Everytime i click on a link to a forum or thread or whatever, it opens up in a new window which is mightily annoying! anyone else experiencing this?

also, my computer started randomly playing music whilst on hop last night. There were no programs open other than Internet explorer and it wasn't even music that i own! It played one track then went away but i couldn't work out where it was coming from! I was only on HoP so it wasn't one of those really annoying sites that insist you listen to their choice of crappy music!

aggh! biggrin

Yup. It's always when the number of posts in the thread is a multiple of the number of posts per page (classic "out by one" bug wink )
