I've been thinking a bit... And later on today, (it's 2am) I'm going to get the stuff I need to make some bi-sectional swinging clubs. They'll be similiar to nunchucks, but they'll only have kevlar wick at one end, and will have grip and a knob on the other.

Has anyone seen/heard of such a thing?

Does anyone have any suggestions of fun stuff I could do with them?... biggrin

I figured they'll be quite interesting for throws... ubbloco

well if you're using them like regular spinning clubs, they wicked end would just lag behind a little and look pretty normal untill....WHAM! You stop arms in mid spin, and the detached end does a full spin and then you keep going wink
Has some pretty cool possibilities!

Yeah, that's something I was thinking!

I was also thinking it'd be possible to do flowers within flowers and all sorts of strange things...

I'm building them at the moment. God, I just wish I could get dowel which was the right diameter. All this sanding is making my wrists ache...

You know something....

Everyone I've ever seen spin nunchucks hot has only had wick at one end.

The only problem I can see with that is that it may just end up looking like poi with less flow, and jerkier.

It does make it easier to do wraps and stalls though.

I'm not sure I'm picturing your idea right though.
Are you talking about a stick with a small amount of chain and then just enough for a grip?
Or something like nunchucks but longer?
Or something I'm not picturing?

You can do flowers within flowers with regular swinging clubs. (think Flowers with Snakes) Personally I reckon you should do double fire nunchucks properly and regular swinging clubs properly. You'll be amazed at how much is in there with regular swinging clubs and regular fire chucks. Alternatively - do something totally different just for the sake of it! smile

Here's the first almost finished one. All I need to do is finish off the other one and get me some kevlar wick. I'm thinking about 2' of 4" wick on each. If only it was legal to use powertools in the middle of the night so I could get these pretty much finished. ubblol

Playing around a little bit, it takes quite a bit of muscle to spin. They will make for some interesting tricks though. I can't wait to be able to play with the two of them.

The only problem is that it lookes very much like a weapon... eek

At the moment it has the chain from my snakes... I'm getting some more ball chain to use instead, which will be a little shorter. Goddamned hardware stores not having ball chain... Goddamned oval link chain not twisting. Goddamned dowel that has to be sanded. mad

They're all done, apart from the wick. They're really fun to spin, although a little hard on the fingers. You can do 'mini tricks' and poi tricks. I worked out how to do flowers within a windmill and chasing the sun which is cool! Hyperloop type things are strange. I can't wait for the wick!...

Ninjarob is rather well known for his double fire nunchucking, and he has wicks on both ends of his.

He has a video up on https://soton-firespinning.co.uk/
(free registration required I think). Also, he has guides on how to make chucks and 3 section staffs up on the site's forums (no registration required to read).

Might be worth a look.

Yeah, all of the fire chucks I found pics of had wicks at both ends.

I've been playing with my creation more and more. There are so many possibilities for tricks!

The diagram's just a little sketchy, but gives a rough idea of what I did. I can explain bits in a little more detail if you want. ubbrollsmile
