It's a big cube.

From a video point of view though, personally I would've liked to have seen something other than 3 moves; behind the back passing, overhead spinning and one brief palmspin.

Not that it's my place to criticise, having never attempted cube spinning before, only 30mb for 3 moves is pushing it wink

Is a very funky toy though.

For fire, would people wick the corners or the edges?

yes i am interested in it too

and me being ona film course i have to critisise, some new moves would have been good, or if there is lack of knowledge of mvoes maybe making the video shorter or changing the pace, some slow motion would have been cool, and argh for scary windows movie maker transition, or even scarier if that was an iMovie job wink and why could we see our cameramns shadow tut tut wink

ok this is what ur waiting for..

the cube is made out of aluminium
and consist of 4 corners and 12 bars
and held together with nylon locking nuts

its made this way so u can pull it apart for travel
its not hevey, once its in rotation its not as hevey.

its just over 1 meter

below are pics of cubie

Non-Https Image Link

there are 12 of these poles (same length)

Non-Https Image Link

the bolts that i used with nylon locking nuts

Non-Https Image Link

another pic of nuts & bolts

Non-Https Image Link

this is one of 4 corners (had welded by a pro)

Non-Https Image Link

this is how i put in my car (2 of these and 4 poles)

Non-Https Image Link

this is it all together

now fire would be easy
u could string kevlar rope from corner to corner
and make it detachable for removable for soaking

or add some poles on the inside from each corner withe kevlar
just like mini fire sticks

other ideas
have it anodize in a metalic coluor
put reflective contact on the poles
paint it in uv paint and spin under black lights

tricks im working on
balance it on ur head while juggling clubs
palm spins and keepin it spinnin with spear hand
spining on forhead (this is tricky )
theres a few others

anyways thats enough for now

not entirely sure i understand you there. are you suggesting that

" umm ".

hmm. yep.

i was thinking that theres an enormous amount you could do with one of these.

biggrin

edit: after watching cubefx i was *really* disappointed. he's got some nice moves, but it don't look like hes put the time in to actually explore the idea, cause he's got a great concept and doesn't need to learn more stuff to sell his act.

(edited cause i realised it made me sound liek a dick)

i agree with 2bags a most pretty toy, but i recon there is a lot more potential within it. there is certainly the possibility for horizontal plane contact (like you would with a staff) but with added throwing and flipping possibilities.

Tieing a big kevlar monkey fist to the middle of those ropes ubblove

For anyone who wants one making, just take Micks very nicely prepped pics and details with some basic technical data (ie tube width desired etc) grab a yellow pages and look for Engineering or General Engineering or something like that. You're sure to find a local workshop that can weld Aluminium (aparrently its much harder than normal steel thus more expensive) and make one for you. Ones offs aren't very expensive for workshops like those as they often specialise in that area. Hope that helps someone, I might go see how much one would cost

Thanks for the inspiration Mick smile

Let's relight this forum ubblove

Flam Chen, a troupe from Arizona, also have a flaming cube that I saw in one of their shows (The Heavenly Court of the Celestial Ling Ling). They lit up all the sides save for one, which made for a LOT of very dramatic fire. The moves were kind of limited because of all that fire, but they're more about the costumes, drama and spectacle than the moves anyhow.
