Chocolate has it's own thread, so here's coffee's

I've just bought the most disgusting/vile cup of coffee ever from the Benjy's Delivered van outside work. After adding 3 spoons of sugar it's still too bitter to drink. Their website states:

"delivering a fantastic cup of coffee. We have spent an absolute fortune in making sure that every time you buy a cup of coffee from us – it is perfect in every way."

I've been procrastinating over buying a decent espresso machine for a while and taking my coffee with me, i just don't want to start drinking several cups a day!

I love coffee, but I can't have more than 1 a day. I drank so much coffee and ate so much chocolate when I was young I made myself completely caffeine intolerant for about 2 years! I was violently sick and got migraines any time I ingested caffiene.

Needless to say, I weaned myself back onto chocolate with the cunning use of chocolate chips. Tea is fine now too, and coffee in moderation. biggrin

Coffee is one of those things that should taste as good as it smells. Trouble is I get a gag reflex if I drink/eat it. I keep trying though, just in case because it smells so good.

Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

I had the worst cup of coffee from a cafe in NZ as well. Bitter does not even begin to describe it. Stomach turning, potent mud is what it was. I have a friend who would have loved it! lol

So...does anyone add anything when they brew theirs?
You can put spices in the filter to flavor the coffee. I have used cayenne pepper (not bad), vanilla bean (scrumptious), cinnamon-nutmeg...very christmas tasting *g*. I was told to try bits of fruit as well, to add a bit of sweetness.

My mum gave me a 10 cup pot. It makes waaay more coffee than I can drink, but I do love my iced coffee with some sugar and milk..yummmmm...so it works out.

Someone once told me she can taste the difference between caffienated and de-caf. I can't and love the flavor of coffee, so I drink de-caf normally. Can anyone else taste it?

Gnor, I was the same way once. I loved chocolate and hated coffee. Then my tastes changed and I can give or take chocolate but love the coffee...tea too but since the thread is about coffee.. wink

Oh..and I was given this bag of coffee beans here, anyone think I should try to make chocolate covered coffee beans?

That seems too much like hard work to me smile

I've done lots of window shopping for espresso makers in the UK costing £150-£200 in the past few months. There's a lot of crap out there, including models branded reputable as being made by reputable/famous companies, but are infact OEMd.

Go for it, assuming they've been stored properly/are edible

On that note, I love coffee biggrin

I like cheap nasty coffee. The stuff from coffee houses and stuff is wrong somehow. Maybe i object paying so much for it. I do generally only buy coffee when i'm knackered now, otherwise i'll have tea. Went through a period of drinking several mugs a day and i find it a bit rich now.

Iced coffee with condensed milke (malasian stylee) is so naughty and delicious it's untrue.

-get a big glass.
-make some uber-strong fresh coffee
-cram glass with ice
-pour hot fresh coffee over
-pour in 1cm (ish) condensed milk

and either: giggle cos it looks like an upside down pint of guiness ubblol
or - mix it all up and attempt not to groan with sheer pleasure wink biggrin

I love coffee... i drink huge amounts of it, generally about 10 cups a day... Some of the best machines out there are the Gaggia ones, and for those in the uk check out a shop called Whittards of Chelsea if you have one near you... their staff know their stuff and are really cool people (guess who i used to work for wink lol )

always make sure your coffee beans are kept in an air tight container and in the freezer... there is no point in freezing ground it doesnt make it last much longer... generally only keep ground for 2 weeks... beans 1 month out of the freezer, or 3 months frozen.
